To begin to paint a picture Westland Car Care and the Westland Police share the same Tow trucks and Towing lot.
Sept. 2005 I was in an accident. The westland Police showed up and Immediately called a tow truck. The police officer went in my trunk hit my reset button and then I moved my car off to the side of the road.
When the tow truck arrive I noticed the truck said Westland Car Care and Westland Police Towing on it. I didn't think much of it because when I started to clean my car out the the tow truck guy begin to rush me.
I then thought to myself, well this is a police tow truck so my things should be safe, so I let the guy go.
Maybe a week later I go to finish cleaning out my car and my glove box is open, my arm rest is open and my back seat is laying down. I left nothing like that.
I opened my trunk and immediately saw that my speaker, amplifier and all my CD's were gone (Solar baric competition kickers with and alpine 4 channel amp. along with many CD'S Over $1300 worth of merchandise).
I had a couple check stubs in my arm rest and a few other things missing. They even took the change from my change holder.
I guy that works their named Jeremy Apologized and said sometimes things like that happen. He said unfortunetly we have some dishonest people working here.
Jeremy gave me the number to his boss (Doug) who dodged me for almost two weeks. When I finally talked to him he said that He was the owner and that my story did not add up.
He said that Westland car care had a 0% theft issue and he asked me why would anyone steal your CD's. I said I never new that theft was so far fetched.
He then told me that he searched my trunk and he found no screw holes from were my amplifier was. I then asked him did he see all of the wires still laying in my trunk and he would not answer.
If anyone knows about cars, you can't drive around with open circuits bouncing around in your trunk. So something had to be connected to those wires.
When we would not solve the problem I went to file a police report. (Remember they share the same towing lot and tow trucks) They kept trying to make me put it off. On the fourth time going I demanded that I fill out a police report.
More than a month later a detective calls me and says Hi I just wanted to let you know that I'm closing the case because I have no suspects. I said well how many people work at Westland Car Care. He then said that he spoke to the owner and he said that they have a 0% theft issue.
That upset me so I said, that is one horrible thing for a detective to say. As a detective you never take a side especially the accused side.
I then called the police officer that came to the accident. I asked him did he remember me and he said yes, I asked him did he remember my baby he said yes, I asked him did he remember going in my trunk to hit my reset button he said yes, and the I asked him did he remember all of the equipment I had in my trunk and he said NO.
That's very odd to me because he had to push my speakers to the side to get to my reset button.
I'll let you readers be the judge. What do you think???? I think it's very suspicious.
I also want you to know that I told Doug that all I wanted back was my stuff and I would not be upset. I never asked for new stuff or money. I wanted my original equipment.
What made me write in was the fact that I went to get my oil changed and the guy that works there said the same thing happen to him. He said the police swept his case under the rug as well.
I wrote the BBB and Westland Car Care would not cooperate and the BBB still has not listed my complaint. I just want my story out!!
I know its not for a huge amount of money but to me its the principle. The police are suppose to serve and protect the innocent.

On the other side of the fence, there are many people that make false claims to collect insurance. The reason the cops tow the car to their yard is that's it's expedient. They have other calls to go on, your car may be a hazard, and the police don't have time to deal with your personal problems. I'd hate to tow a car to your driveway only to have it explode later on, (yes, it happens)or leak oil all over. Who would you blame then? The deal the police have with the car-care company is probrably to save the town money, and the police have no control over it.
