If you are thinking of making a purchase here STOP!!!!!! Please read the rather lenghthy reson below. Sorry, but it is necessary to explain.

In June of 2001 I purchased a 6 month old 2001 Sport Trac from the used auto department of Westway Ford. The transaction went smooth and I THOUGHT everything was fine. In October of 2001, ny tags were up and I called the dealership to inquire if my TT&L included a new registration and how to get it.

During the course of the conversation with the lady in the accounting department, I figured out that the numbers on the paperwork she had and the numbers on the paperwork I had in front of me were not the same, even though we were both supposed to be looking at my invoice.

I asked her to fax me a copy of what she was looking it, which she did , and I'm sure regretted doing so later. What I found was APPALLING!! (This is where it gets a bit confusing) Westway had submitted a different version of a sales reciept to my financing company ( I had a check from Capital One) than the sales reciept I had.

The bottom line numbers where the same, but everything in between was not. Basically what they did was inflate my sales tax amount on my paperwork by about $800.00 , and then on the paperwork they submitted to the finance company they showed me buying an ezxtended warranty for the same $800.00!

So they were paid an extra $800.00 from Capital One which I'm sure went into the salesmans pocket. Through research I found the name of the warranty company and called and asked if it showed I purchased a warranty and they said yes,......on an 83 Mustang!!!

So apparently, Westway registered a bogus warranty, on a car I never owned and pocketed the money!! Not only did they do this, but worse yet, they FORGED my mine and my husbands signatures on the paperwork they submitted to the finance company AND I HAVE COPIES OF ALL OF THIS!!!!

I contacted the General Manager who basically just asked me what I wanted him to do about it, that it was just a simple "mistake". He was the most rude, condescending person I have EVER dealt with.

After 8 months, a visit to the police department and an attorney, I finally received my $800.00 back, but never an apology. As far as I'm concerned, I should have been compensated for my time and trouble.

To this day, I cannot pass Westway without cussing the sleazballs. Please never, never purchase anything from these rip-offs!!!!

Kristy trust me what has happened to you happens all the time in the auto industry. Many banks know this kind of crap goes on and they look the other way. Maybe they look the other way because of the big money they make off of the car loans.

When was the last time you have ever seen a car dealer get into trouble and get exposed in your local newspaper? NEVER. You local newspapers don't want to expose car dealer scams because they get big money from car dealers in advertising money.

The only way a car dealer can get exposed is right here at ripoffreport.com I have been a Rip Off report Advocate for a number of years and I have seen it all.

Kristy go look at this below Rip Off Report and see it you can spot a big scam! Make sure that you look at all 3 photos. This is a VERY INFORMATIVE Rip Off Report. I feel a bank and a car buyer got Ripped OFF!

I can't understand why there are not many attorney generals that are willing to go after deception and scams in the auto industry. I only know of one AG's office that has the balls to spank car dealers. He is New York's AG and my hat is off to him in a big way.

I tell car buyers to NEVER buy a car from a car dealer you like. Make sure that you tell a car dealer that you know they have Rip Off Reports before you try to make a car deal with them. make sure they understand that you know about their Rip Off Reports and that they best be on their toes and treat you right.

Most car buyers want to buy from a car dealer they like. They want to buy from a friend in the business. I say you should NEVER buy a car from a person that you like nor should you buy from a car dealer you like. If you do you put yourself in what I call the "UCZ" UNSAFE COMFORT ZONE. A UCZ can cost you big bucks.
