I ordered a set of Exel wheels for my car in 2008. I made sure I called and talked to an operator because I wanted to make sure they would fit. I was told at this time of their "Compatability Promise." If they did not fit they could be returned at NO cost to me(see the website for this promise). My car was actually in an accident so I went ahead and ordered these wheels early. The body shop was finally ready to install them and found that the lug nuts were the wrong size. He called and told them this and was told that he was wrong. My mechanic insisted and went to get the part#. Shaun (wheelmax customer service) finally admitted that they were wrong.

After a week went by with no contact, I decided to give Shaun a call. I was told they were sent already(lie) and would be there shortly. Furthermore, it was not his fault they took so long since my mechanic could not properly explain why the lugs did not fit. Amazingly, I got an e-mail later that day with the Fed Ex tracking # showing they had just now been shipped. The new lugs finally arrived 10 days later and they tried to install the wheels again. This time the rear wheels could not be put on because they made contact with my calipers and would not rotate.

Long story short, the wheels were not made to fit my car. So I called Shaun up again and aired my greivance. I was treated very rudley. I was told that he did'nt have time for my "sob story." I was furious, but I told him that I just wanted a refund and we could go our seperate ways. I was told that in order to get a refund I would have to get the mechanics at the Tire shop to explain to wheelmax why they would not work. I said ok. Here is the phone number. To which he replied, "if you want the refund, you have to call." I said ok, can I get an e-mail address? I was given service@wheelmax.com. I had the Tire shop send an e-mail stating why they did not fit.

Then I called Shaun back. I was then told that the e-mail address was not valid. It had to come directly to him. I guess it is lost in cyberspace. So he gives me the new e-mail address. I call Shaun back. He now said "this is scribble. I need something on company letterhead." So now I go back and get them to write it on letterhead and re-send it. I called Shaun back. He said he got the e-mail and I would be receiving the Fed Ex shipping instructions soon, but not too soon since their e-mail system was down (lie).

A few days go by and I make the call. I am now told that they will not be processing the return because it has been 60 days. I am furious. I have jumped thru every hurdle they have demanded and now this. The only reason it has gone 60 days is because they screwed up the lugs and put me thru all these hurdles. What a total SCAM! I was told that they don't like to give returns because people rip them off. Try the other way around! I would like to know which part of this was my fault. I also try to call daily and talk to the General Mgr (Andy), and he is always at lunch. Even at 3pm. Late eater, I guess.

After all this, my wife decided to try to call and see if she could not speak to Andy. Well guess what she finally does. He gets on the phone and finally admits that he is Andy. She pleads our case and we finally settle on paying the $30 pickup fee (rip-off)from Fed Ex in exchange for a refund on the wheels and shipping. I should not have to pay anything according to their "compatability promise." I am still waiting on the Fed Ex labels. And I am not holding my breath on this refund. I won't believe it until the money hits my account.

In the mean time I have AMEX investigating. I also plan on contacting the BBB, and anythig else I can think of. I know some folks in the department of commerce and I think an investigation is needed if my return is not processed. I will give you an honest update if they return the money. It is the ONLY way they can redeem themselves at this point. My fingers are crossed.

The money was fully refunded with an apology. I am amazed! I think the BBB is what did the trick. According to the letter, Shaun has been dealt with. I still cannot reccomend this company due to the number of complaints. There are some good companies out there, don't waste your time with this one.
