I just signed up, and have not seen any tutoring requests. Under qualifications it says no tutoring experience required. Tutors must have at least a current standing in college. Tutors must be able to meet their students at a place in common.
I was hoping to make some extra money. But it seems that is not happening.

Also a tutor for 3 months- NOTHING

Here's my experience with this sham.... err, I mean, business:
I've been a member for 3 months, 2 as a premiere member, and absolutely no contacts.
I offered 25+ subjects at a low rate, and nothing resulted.
Tried to contact the owner to rectify the situation and peacefully resolve the issue; he became terse and sent back an immature response that in no way improved the situation.
I am trying to cancel my existing membership as of right now; however, the website has conveniently locked me out of my own account.
How's that for an honest business?

You are right Where's my tutor is a huge scam. It's a huge scam because no one is working and the only thing Justin Ketchum cares about is takin your money. He and all the poeple saying positive things about this fake company are liars. He never contacted a tutor and got an apology from her more like a threat if he didn't refund her money.
Still I heard of some guy who got his refund back. He said to contact Luanne@fastspring.com she should be able to help you get your refund back. For all others read the reviews before you sign up with with any company. The red flag is that they are charging you upfront. Wise up people you can't be too careful or too trusting!!! I hope you get your money back. I wish there were bounty hunters for this justin creep. Also they DO NOT have an A+ rating with the BBB

Yes this company is a scam!

I found this company on Craigslist. I emailed and I've got a respond the same day. After I signed up I recived another email from Justin - it was a thank you email.
Couple days later I found another advertisement on Cragslist claiming that "WheresMyTutor" is a scam. I didn't believe it at first but I decided to do some simple research. But first I emailed Justin with my concerns. No answer for weeks. Still waiting
Then I decided to google word 'tutor' because that what most potential customers would do when they are looking for tutor. Nothing on the first page. Nothing on the second page. Nothing on the third page. Nothing on 3 or 4 pages. How many pages do you think a customer would go through in order to find a tutor? I don't believe more then 3.
This means the website 'Whereismytutor" is NOT being promoted at all. Potential customers have no way of find it. And if they have no way of finding a website how can they find tutors listed on the website?
Also, I don't know any other tutoring companes who is a reason for some namy blogs/posting/and websites that are trying to explain and warn people that this company is a fraud.
If you wat to create a profile that not a single customer will see - go for it.

I'm a tutor for WheresMyTutor and I can assure all of you that they are legitimate!! I might not get contacted every single week like they suggest, but I DO get contacted quite often -- maybe not for a week or two, then all of a sudden I'll get contacted several times in say, a single weekend.
I made back my 30 bucks (signed up for Premier Membership) and I've got quite a bit of tutoring going on. About half of the students I work with have referred me to their friends (other tutees, if you will). I guess you could say I picked up those students via Where's My Tutor as well.
I'm not going to re-up for another paid year however -- not cuz they're a scam or a "bad company" or anything. Hardly!! It's just that I've got more classes of my own to take (more than last semester0, plus my current students (their parents actually) keep referring me to other kids -- albeit I usually have to email them for "leads".
If you're on the fence about WheresMyTutor, I say go for it!! :-)

It's mostly the language.

I just checked over the site, and while there's some positive feedback happening online and nobody seems to think it's a scam...
It looks a lot like a scam.
And I'm not talking about the fee. I'm talking about the clipart (the clipart) in the banner, the single, poorly lit photo in the right-hand sidebar, the all-lowercase topic headings, and of course... the copy.
Don't even get me started on the copy. It reads in exactly the same sleazebag, salesman language that I expect a scam to read in.
The whole thing is profoundly unprofessional, and it would benefit enormously from a website facelift and an intern who knows how to write professionally.

I've had a good experience earning $ with this company

I've been a tutor with Wheres My Tutor for a couple months now. It's been a good experience for me actually. I'm in the San Luis Obispo area, so maybe my good amount of Tutoring Requests is cuz I live near Cal Poly SLO? Not sure, but I get like 2 Tutoring Requests per week. My sister goes to ASU (Arizona State) and she and her sorority sisters eventually joined too. By "eventually," I mean that I had to be the guinea pic. I'd join. I paid the $30 though and I tutor math/science which are popular topics...

COMPANY REBUTTAL: This Tutor has been a member for only 3 DAYS!!

COMPANY REBUTTAL: My name is Justin Ketcham and I am the Director of Tutoring Services for WheresMyTutor. On behalf of our company, I'd like to file a rebuttal against the person who claims she's being "ripped off" by us. The author of the complaint states that she is from Norwalk, CA. We only have ONE TUTOR located in the city of Norwalk, CA. Today is 2/7/2010, and this tutor from Norwalk signed up on our website on 2/4/2010, ONLY THREE (3) DAYS AGO. You are reading this right: she signed up 3 DAYS AGO, successfully built her *Profile Page,* and now claims she's being ripped off?? Mind you we charge $14.99 (or $24.99) per year, and since this tutor paid the $24.99 yearly fee, she's out about 21 cents in the three days she's been signed up. Furthermore, this tutor only chose the following tutoring subjects: alphabet drills, elementary school music, K-6 penmanship, K-6 reading, and K-6 spelling. Most of these subjects are usually covered by the student's parent(s), as they are fairly straight forward topics for any adult.
Upon contacting this tutor, she informed us that she was "sorry," that indeed her complaint was extremely premature, and that she emailed RipOffReport to remove the posting. However, to our knowledge, RipOffReport never removes complaints from their site.
Read other postings by this author: she has tried to correct her premature complaint right here on this same posting. We appreciate that she has done that.
It turns out that this tutor was once duped by a telemarketer and has since been very apprehensive about "internet sites."
Our website helps thousands (yes, thousands) of tutors and students alike each month. We provide a forum where they may "find each other" if you will. Tutors earn good money working part-time, while students receive the help they need at an affordable rate (because they can skip agencies, avoid elevated hourly rates, and pay the tutors directly).
Perhaps if this tutor had been a member of our Tutoring Directory for more than 3 DAYS, this complaint of being "ripped off" would be substantiated. But as it stands now, we've done nothing we haven't promised. The author of this complaint was issued a FULL REFUND! :-)

My apologies for writing the first report. It was a little too inmature of my part. I feel bad about writing the report in the first place. I did not mean to. I know I should have gave it a chance for at least a month. If I was not satisfied, I should have contacted the company in the first place, instead of accusing them of ripping me off. This is not true, they did not ripped me off in the first place. I believe I did it, because I do not trust no one anymore.

How long did it take for you to see a tutor request from a parent? No, I did not pay $14.99 fee, I paid the $25.00 fee. I will waitabout a month. If I do not get any requests after a month. I am going to cancel my membership.

You said that you just signed up? So did I and I was contacted already by a parent. I paid the $24.99 fee. Did you pay the $14.99 fee?? Either way it's only like $2/month, and since you JUST NOW signed up, are you really being ripped off? Why don't you give it some more time? Besides, think about it, if EVERY single tutor on the site was being flooded with tutoring requests, don't you think it would be like $10/month instead of $14.99/year?? You're not being ripped off at all, and neither am I. But this is just my opinion.
