Found their website accidentally and checked into it, found a good price on a RC Car, so I ordered 1 to see how things went. The 1st thing that went wrong was they did not have the specific color ordered. Received a phone call so late in the day I was unable to call back the same day with an answer. 1st call I made I got an answering machine with a terrible & unprofessional message. Called the next day and & had some one answer like you would at home, with a simple hello (Unprofessional still) Said ok to a different color choice and order would be shipped. The day after that I received the invoice w/$33 shipping charge and I payed $99 for my original purchase. Called to cancel since this was just a plain rip off, but got the run around and was told no it already was shipped. Never again. Should of stuck with my gut feeling that this was a poorly run Mom & Pop joint that just don't care. P.S. I checked the website for shipping details & it states "Charges are based on posted UPS and Fedex website posted rates. Based on size and weight from Zip Code 14845 and not less than $9.95 unless otherwise stated on the website"  Checked website my self & shipping was not the same as they charged.

Wholesaletrains.com has excellent consumer service

I found their website when I was looking for a specific Lionel holiday train for our young granddaughter. Their price was competitive, but their consumer service is lacking.

Good consumer service, in my opinion, includes giving the total cost before shipment. A blanket statement that the minimum shipping cost is $9.95 and any cost above $9.95 will be are actual shipping costs turned out to be extremely misleading.

Our shipping costs are $41.91 on an order of $209.79. With number of online businesses with free shipping or a flat rate shipping charge, Wolesaletrains.com does not qualify has an "EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE" retailer.

I will pursue a challenge  to their actual shipping costs. Their "Manager's" rebuttal to the original report is simply a terrible try to spin some positive PR on the situation. In my opinion, this company is dishonest with regard to shipping costs to their customers, and they should a fair cost and allow customers to know the cost before they have to submit an order. The alternative for them is simply go out of business.

I was very hesitant to buy from this store.  I have seen several bad comments and not many good ones for this store.  I decided to role the dice and try them out because of a almost unbelievable price on a DCC train and controller that was on special.  With shipping the package was less then what other stores are selling just the controller for.  Ordered monday and just showed up here on friday.  I am a very pleased customer and wanted to show a positive post for Wholesaletrains.com.  There is a saying that a happy customer tells one friend, an unhappy customer tells everybody.  I will also say that there shipping prices are a mystery untill you get charged for them.  Perhaps Wholesaletrains.com should work on that issue.  As for me, I am going to order more stuff from them.

I agree with the owner on this one. $33 is pretty standard pricing for something of that size. The reason why many deliveries cost less is that those companies have large merchant accounts with FedEX or UPS. Those accounts are not cheap. I take it the person who created this report hasn't used any delivery service.

We at Wholesaletrains.com pride ourselves in customer service.  To clearly state the facts of this incident, Mr. Dagmar Keller placed the order for an RC Truck (LOSB0105). Although we did NOT have the color he wanted, we went the extra step (instead of just closing the order as unavailable) to contact the customer to see if he wanted a different color that we DID have in stock.  Some might appreciate that effort.  The next day he contacted us back to say he would like one we had in a different color.  There was no mention of a cancellation at all.We then shipped the item to him. 

Now if he had the information correct, he would find that the price we charged him was actually LESS than the Fedex website because we have an account with them and do bulk shipments with standard pick up times.  The lower prices also includes OUR shipping materials and labor to package the item.

The CORRECT information was a 26x20x10 box with 13lbs valued at $99.99 from zip code 14845 to 85388 (that's right, NY to Arizona - not cheap).  The price comes up on FedEx as $38.34.  However, we charged him $32.79.  We do NOT profit on our shipping, we simply cover the costs involved. 

With the volume of business we do at great wholesale prices, it is not easy to contact customers everytime an issue arises.  However, when we do, we usually end up with grateful customers - not customers who like to be deceiptful and slander our business. 

Fortunately, we can pick and choose who we do business with.
