3/6/09 - Avoid any purchases with this SCAM company. First they were Inphonic (read rip-off report on them!), then declared bankruptcy last year because their business model is a scam and are back in business with a fresh new website but still scamming customers with Rebates that are never paid.

Now their management team reads like a Who's Who from Inphonic. I thought CEO's like Andy Zeinfield and COO Kenneth Schwarz got the boot when they run a company into the ground and deceive customers???!!! Who is the Board of Directors of this company anyway? They are conveniently not listed.

Consider this:
1. Wirefly does not reference their parent company except hidden at the bottom on a web page
2. Their parent company is Simplexity at www.simplexity.com and DOES NOT list a phone number anywhere on their website. Hmmmmm, scary.
3. Customer Service is a scam and can only be reached by email.

Who was the bankruptcy judge anyway?? Nice judicial system.

As always, you will be lured by nice rebates on free phones so you think they are going to PAY YOU to own their phone. Not so, unfortunately. They have so many scams going it is not funny. Simplexity is nothing more than a Ponzi scheme. That is because when you buy the phone your credit card will be charged for this that and the other, but they say the rebate will give you that back. But they will not give you the rebate back.

I bought a phone last year from them and am tired of trying to get my rebate back. I won't bore you with the long, sad story. Read scams under Inphonic for all the gory detail. Same company, new name.

Simplexity and Wirefly are just a giant Ponzi scheme bilking customers out of $40-100 each. Say goodbye to your money if you buy a phone from them when you could have gone to a reputable Verizon or Sprint store and got a real deal.

I beg to differ or Please Make Sense

I glad you found satisfaction. Are you really a customer or just a WireFly employee trying to hang on to a job?  See, I have to wonder why a truly satisfied customer would use RipOff Report to investigate a company that kept them happy ...

I followed all the rebate terms to the "T". I marked my calendar with the deadlines, made copies of everything and shipped of my 4 rebate requests by certified mail. I had ordered and received two phones on a family plan. I later added a third phone to the plan. The scam artists out of Virginia refused to pay on any of my 4 rebates.

InPhonic / Wire Fly claimed that T Mobile reported to them that I had cancelled my contract. Adding a third phone is not any form of cancellation. I wasted much time and postage expecting fairness, but it was all in vain. Years later the Attorney General for Washington DC invited me to join a class action suit. I was offered partial payment on only the smallest rebate amounts.

Simplexity... Whose fault?

AUTHOR: SIXXI - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 01, 2013

I am ashamed of you.  First, you are on a site called RIPOFF Report.  What exactly do you think people here will be doing?  I can assure it's not leaving raving compliments.  Second, Simplexity ripped me off too.  Debited $200 from my account, and want $200 more.  Why?  Because the phone was STOLEN... yes, stolen in transit back to them.  I could sit here and argue this with you, as I have done with them for over 20 hours (recorded call logs for record.)   If you are looking for people who are NOT complaining I would like to suggest you find another site.

Still your fault

First of all, I am not the owner of this company and I have nothing to do with it. I have corrected that on my heading. I do not speak for Simplexity's management, I am a citizen like you, and one who is tired of irresponsible customers like you trying to use consumer advocacy websites such as this one to get over on companies. First of all, Simplexity never went bankrupt. The parent company Inphonic, which DID go bankrupt, is a completely seperate entity that was bought by Simplexity. Neither of the two Simplexity executives you mentioned ran anything into the "ground" because they had nothing to do with Inphonic. Secondly, that customer service can only be reached by email is a flat out lie, I just called and got right through to someone, just like you would have two years ago. Third, it is not a Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi scheme would be if you were forced into reselling a product or service that they provide, with some or most of the profits being routed back to them. Fourth, they never claim that they pay you to own THEIR phone. You get a free phone in exchange for staying with a prescribed rate plan for a cetain length of time, which is a good way fo a lower income person to get a nice cellphone, and I hope  that business model is not rendered extinct by customers such as yourself. In your rebuttal you even stated that you were outside of the 90 days, which means that Simplexity would not be able to recoup the rebate from the carrier, and they are a business and can't just eat these costs. I'm sorry you had this experience but you have to take some personal responsibility here, maybe you can find a quote in your Bible that will inspire you to do so.

The Long, Sad Story

AUTHOR: Cactusfields - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

I love the Ripoff Report.  Companies get held accountable for their behaviour and they can't buy or bankruptcy their way out of how they have treated their customers.

Next, I am in shock --- after two years a company owner from Simplexity replies to my post, however, consider the following.

1. They did not follow the rules Ripoff Report publishes about rebuttals at http://www.ripoffreport.com/Update_bcd97.aspx ---- e.g. "speculation".  They "assume" my long, sad story is due to not following the rebate rules.  Neither do they present any facts to defend their position.

2. I had emailed all of the company executives directly in 2009 trying to get a response to my complaint.  None was responded to or given.  After a year I went to their website and was finally greeted with a Bankruptcy notice and that no communication was any longer available with the company.  I still have the screen shot.  Yes, I am a die-hard rebate follower.  I was still trying to get my rebate I was due a year after I was eligible!!  I needed it.

3. I have all the certified mail copies of what I sent and a written history of how I diligently met all the rebate requirements, even though they were something like . . . you can send in your rebate no sooner  than 90 days after your one year anniversary after service has completed and no later than 120 days after your first year of service (don't be late!!).  You must send a copy of your original phone bar codes, a copy of your original invoice and clearly note your order number (that is hidden on a piece of paper we included in your shipping box which you will no doubt throw away inadvertently (which I didn't!)) on our long form or your request will be rejected.  And by the way send your request to Bear Lake, MN where we have a PO box (so no one in their right mind will try to find us and complain when we don't send them their rebate).

4. I was then unemployed after being laid off in the 2008 crash and really needed the $100 rebate Wirefly had promised to support my family of 4, and other than trying to find a job had a lot of time to follow all of the rebate rules and make copies of everything !!!!

5. Why did Wirefly declare bankruptcy?  Please provide an explanation of that to the public.  Maybe you couldn't pay all the thousands of rebates that accumulated??  That's what I'm thinking.  Prove me wrong.

6. While I can't prove their business model was or still is a ponzi scheme, a ponzi scheme is where you let people buy in to a scheme (buy our cell phones for $100 now) and promise a guaranteed larger return in the future (we'll give you a $200 rebate in the future - you will end up making $100 on the deal !!!) then use the money received for their own profit with no intent of ever paying out what is owed.  They take advantage of low and middle income people who need good deals and steal their money.

7. Where are the facts in either of the posts supporting Simplexity - Wirefly practices or performance?  Again, none provided.  I had a story to tell, and told it.  They respond in denial.  Ethical, well-run companies try to understand and appease dis-satisfied customer, not rebuke them!!!

8. I will offer a deal.  I will post  a positive response on this Ripoff Report if a company representative will review my documentation that I can provide to prove I followed the rebate rules, and give me a check for the rebate due me with interest.  How can a fair offer like that be refused.  Enough with the presumptions, denials, and rebuttals.  Show me you are now a reputable company with your actions and I will be glad to acknowledge it.  I can be reached at crosswalker3 at yahoo.com.

9.  Luke 19:8,9  And Zaccheus stood, and said unto the Lord . . and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold."

I suspect that the "long, sad story" that you left out would explain why you didn't get the rebate.

WireFly or Inphonic or Simplexity?

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 02, 2011

It doesn't matter. Most customers will never see a rebate. Google the review and complaint websites. Whatever their name the same racketeers in Reston, VA change names to hide like a chameleon. Years ago I ordered a pair of Razr phones and added them to my original T-mobile plan to create a family plan. All my required billing paperwork was sent certified to make sure I documented meeting their very specific requirements and deadlines.  All 4 rebates were denied, first because I was "late".

After proving my mailings were on time I was denied because I "cancelled service". I didn't cancel I added 2 new phones!  Eighteen+ months of emails and complaints and then bakruptcy. The DC Atty General's office offered 20 cents on the dollar for the smallest of 4 rebates. I never saw a dime.

I had no problema with wirefly

AUTHOR: mcchucker - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2011

I purchased 2 free phones from Wirefly for Sprint and they arrived in the mail 5 days later. I was only charged for my service plan. Furthermore, Wirefly and sites like Overstocked.com are affiliates of Simplicity and are not responsible for any rebates offered by Simplicity. I have seen the phones offered free and WITH rebates. These rebates are not honored until you fulfilled the terms of your contract(which usually means 2 years of service). Read the fine print before throwing around half baked accusations about ponzi schemes

I was just about to purchase Verizon's Droid cellphone from overstock.com ($100 cheaper) at (((Redacted))) until I read reports on Simplexity. I noticed that Overstock's cellphone site is powered by Simplexity. Same company? I'll error on the side of caution and just take my butt into a Verizon Wireless dealer. Not worth the risk.
