SEO Reputation Management at its best!

I recently designed and published a flash-based website using wix.com's editor for a local business.  I connected the purchased domain name to the site. It works, and that's all fine and dandy, but...

Wix promises that the sites are SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Friendly.  It's been 3 months and even after adding the domain name to google, (http://www.google.com/addurl/) It's not even showing up on any page of results.

Also, I have requested a source code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_code) multiple times and have yet to receive the code due to the claim by the Avishai Abrahami, the CEO that "When you create a Wix website you create an XML document, the Wix viewer loads the XML document and renders the website, Wix does not create an SWF for your website, all Wix sites are using the same one SWF but loading different XML document.

In simpler terms, there is no source code that you can look into and fix it or change it."

The problem lies in this-- SWF files/websites are part of the whole site of wix.com... A user creates a profile and that makes "www.wix.com/username" after which he/she creates a site (XML Document) and it becomes "www.wix.com/username/usersite".

What wix has done is incorporated an editor (or really, a multifunction; advanced form submit function-- similar to Myspace's comment's) that allows "users" to basically only ADD pages to wix's OWN website-- and paying to not have embedded advertisements.

A website URL "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wix.com" is structured like this:

http://
=This part is the protocol.  http is the hypertext transfer protocol, and is the standard for transmitting webpages over the internet.

en=This is called a subdomain of wikipedia.  It represents another section of the site.

wikipedia.org=This would be this URL's hostname, or more commonly known, domain name.

wiki=This is a folder located in the root level directory of the website.

Wix.com=This is a file located in the folder previously mentioned.

So, after explaining this, wix is only adding to their own site by allowing users to create and upload their own folders and files.  Not giving them their OWN website.

Which the one I've created is not SEO friendly and was one of the major reasons I used this site to create a website for the local business...

Other problems...

Wix pulled a Bait and Switch with a feature of the new editor where they never once mentioned that it would cost more, and when it was released anyone who wanted to use it, needed to either upgrade, or pay more for the upgrade they have.

They're in a current situation where there is an anticipatory breach of informing the users for months about the up and coming HTML editor, and are tempting everyone to stay so they can use it, and have now hinted at a fee based system that will not allow people to use it without first paying.

HTML is BASIC website design knowledge and to be able to use it, I fear that Wix will not only charge for, but from test versions, not be able to incorporate it at a fundamental level... Leaving any user with a faulty product.

There is also a very drastic LACK of support for the site.  The moderators and wix staff have a language barrier that is borderline unacceptable and make no attempt to hire more staff based on claims of "it costs money".

I know for a fact that last October (2008), wix received a second ammount of funding from their sponsors; $3.5 Million which was to go toward product design and marketing, and so far many users have only seen marketing. everywhere.

Wix is SEO Friendly, But that doesnt mean they do all of the work for you.

AUTHOR: sendittozach - (United States of America)

Good Day,

I have been using Wix.com for over a year now, and believe I can help resolve your issue. Wix.com's SEO feature is one you must adjust yourself. You must enter correct keywords describing your site, as well as a nice lengthy description. Wix is SEO Friendly. Google and other search engines have a real problem crawling a flash website for its indexing needs. Wix has enabled you to enter keywords and a description that a search engine can crawl easily. Also, content, content, content: Wix allows your text within your website to be selectable text, which search engines can also crawl along with your sites main page header. It is my recommendation that you look at wix.coms support page which explains fully how this all works. It is 100% relevant to your keywords you selected under the settings of your website (found and edited within the editor) and the content of your website. The support site goes in to some detail about suggested font sizes for a header, etc, etc. They arent going to do all the work for you as they dont know what you site needs as it is your site and content. Education is the solution to ANY problem.

Do you have premium upgrade?

AUTHOR: Ryandc - (U.S.A.)

Wix is SEO friendly, under your settings section you'll find the ability to add keywords that search engines would hit on when a search is conducted. If you have a premium package where you have a domain name hosted elsewhere, like mine is(((Redacted))) hosted through go-daddy and utilizing the wix builder, the SEO would come mainly from your hosting provider since the domain is housed their. Hopefully this helps.
