When you hand your debit card to the merchant, that is giving the merchant authorization. At least as far as the bank is concerned. How did the merchant obtain your debit card if you didn't give it to him? You're going to have an uphill battle proving this was unauthorized if your card was physically swiped at a merchant's terminal.

If the card is scanned and charged, the bank honors it...where's the bank Ripoff on that?
From reading your posting here, I'm not sure you should be handling your own affairs.
