BEWARE!

I think I've been ripped off. When they first called me to get into the business, they targeted me because I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. This was the bait they used to hook me in. I asked if I can talk to my partner first to get his opinion, but they immediately said that I could join first and then talk to my husband. Reliable businesses should let you get the chance to look at things before making a decision but I figured it was a home business after all. That was dumb on my part. They provided three packages to me at 149 (silver) , 288 (gold) , or 477 (platinum). The guy suggested I take the 477 platinum so I would make more money. He asked if I would take it for $377 which is really nice and have the $100 go toward my commission. I didn't know any better so I okayed the 377. I figured that the price included the larger commission of $500 and the website building. When I joined, a website was built for me www.brooklynwebmall.com but I don't have the ability to tweak it as I wanted. I was referred to an 'advertising coach" to look at advertising programs I could use to jumpstart my business. Of course the packages were 2-4k.

I took the advertising cost of $1295 (after much pressure selling from their part) that would spread throughout a 12 month period. After a month or so, another advertising coach called me to see if I'd want pay per click advertising at about $.60/click and they'd guarantee me this price. I couldn't take it without consulting my partner. Of course I refused as I hadn't seen any money to break even my costs. After I told the guy that I didn't make any money, he told me to just let my current program run for the year to see how that goes. After 90+ days, I've only received a check that's less than $9 and that check was mailed after the first month but the consecutive months after, I did not see anything. I'm hoping to get my set up cost back because their terms said they'll refund it if you didn't make any money within the first 90 days. I wonder if they consider that measly check making money. I didn't cash the check because it wasn't worth it.

I've spent a total of $1672 to this company and nothing has come out of it.

They don't provide an address, website or email that you can check out and send complaints or letters to. They did add a spot in the "contact us" link that you can send a message to the customer service representative. I've sent them two messages with complaints and have not heard anything from them as of yet, not even a confirmation to my message with an explanation of why they would not refund my money. I'll wait a couple more days to see if there's any sort of response from them. If not, I'll call them.

Hopefully you don't fall into the same trap I've fallen into.

Got partial refund from World Market Systems

AUTHOR: Pennypincher - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 27, 2007

Well, I got my refund of $768.82 on 9/18/07. I'm happy they kept their words. My lesson learned ---make sure you know what you're getting yourself into and whether you can be committed to it before you dish out any $$$.

May receive a partial return from WMS

AUTHOR: Pennypincher - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 13, 2007

Received a call from Dave at World Market Systems regarding my message to them.
I would like to formally apologize for not calling them first before posting negative reports. I did not give them a chance to resolve my issue before posting on here. Dave does sound like he is concerned and looking after me.

I asked for a refund of the portion of unused advertising in my message to WMS.
I requested specifically for:

$377 set up fee
$971.25 (that is $1295---$107.92/month---minus 3 months of advertising service which is $323.75)
A total of $1348.25 to be refunded.

My advertising costs:
email Blast Qty 30,000 $545.00
MAIN WEBSITE
TrafficGuaranteed - 10,000/12months $500.00
SelecTrak Tracking Tool
Search Engine Blast - 300 $250.00
Total advertising cost: $1295

Platinum Referral Program $377

Here's what Dave and I discussed:

He will personally manage my account for me for the duration of 1 year, as I have only committed to a year and made it clear with him
If I see a large enough improvement, I will continue the program. Every business owner wants to try to break even with their costs.
My partner does not want me to have anything to do with them again. We cannot even talk about this business without a huge argument because he hasn't seen any reasonable return.

Dave feels that I did not give the business enough of a chance to work.
I understand that this is a business and it usually takes a while for things to pick up if it ever does.
Dave will refund $400 of the TrafficGuaranteed - 10,000/12 months.

Apparently the email blast and engine search blast cost is nonrefundable.
I suppose it is fair since the email blast and engine search blast are already done.
Dave will give me 6,000 email blast at no charge. He will not pressure or charge me another penny for anything he does for the duration of my stay with the company, which is for 9 months when I will reassess.

Dave request that I give him a call once a month to update with him on the progress of my business.

I reiterated that I want my $377 back.
Dave said he'll refund $368.82 (minus the $8.18 I made over the course of 90 days)
That is a total of $768.82 in refund.
WMS still keep $903.18 of my money. Hopefully this money will be well-spent if I let this business run the next 9 months.

I will reassess this business within that time frame.
If I decide to not let the business run any more (I'll notify Dave if this decision is made final), it would be my loss.

I will wait to see a credit in my mastercard for the amount of $768.82 in the next 5-7 business days.

So far I feel that WMS cares about its customers/business partners, but talking is one thing, seeing results is a another.
It's hard not to be skeptical when a confirmation is only verbal. In the next 5-7 business days I will report back whether they had kept their words.
