My report is simple.
My husband and I started a plan in April of 2002. The agreement provided us with 500 minutes during peak hours and 3500 off peak minutes. The Agreement was for two phones, the charge would be 44.99/ month with a $15.00 per month rebate for each phone.
We were to contact the establishment where we obtained the plans (which we did) after 60 days and we should have been sent 2 $180.00 rebate checks. (15 X 12=180) June came and there was no check received, July came with no check received.
I had held up payment on the bills because I was waiting for the rebate check. On August 1st they shut off our service because of non payment. I spoke with a customer service rep to try and get to the bottom of this and had no luck. I contacted the establishement where I purchased these plans and had no luck. No one was willing to speak to me about getting me my rebate, but Worldcom wanted the full payment or they weren't going to turn on our phones.
On August 8th I tried to contact Worldcom again, as I sent out the payments due, and all I got was the run around. One gentleman transferred me to another rep who was to help me get my rebate, that rep gave me a 800 number to call for refunds. I explained to him that it was not a refund I was seeking, but a "rebate" and he hung up on me. I called the 800 number just for the heck of it and it was a recording stating that rebates/refunds were no longer available.
Furious at this point I called the customer service line back and proceeded to tell the rep what had just happened to me. I told him that I wanted to cancel both service plans and he said he would take care of it and that I would receive confirmation in the mail. I then asked him about the rebate and he put me on hold. Well it wasn't hold he put me on, he transfered me to a pre recorded message that was just plain rude!!! It basically said "the customer service rep that you were speaking with no longer wishes to speak with you......and it went on"
The next day I called to see where we were with my cancelation and the rep I had on the line did not see any record of my previous conversations.....interesting. So I proceeded to cancel my plans again and he said he needed to speak with my husband to cancel his phone. When my husband came to the phone, the line was dead. We had to call back to get another rep on the line to cancel his account.
Worldcom, not only screwed us out of our rebate, the failed to honor their agreement, thus in my opinion, breaking the contract. I will not pay for this service until they send me corrected bills. If they don't want to provide me with a rebate, they should amend the bills to reflect the 15 dollars they should have sent to us as per the agreement.
Worldcom has proven to be sneak and unlawful. They are unethical to the maximum!!!!!!
