This company will try to take 40% of your money simply for listing you on google and processing a credit card.  They will read your personal emails to your own customers.

You will be better off by publishing yourself on the web.  Its not hard, and neither is taking your own credit cards.  Paypal works great.  They are worthless unless you like spyware.

I completely agree with this client..

We try to use a company, cause we think they are legit, but unfortunately as with allot of scams and ripoff sites this so called Wyzant is just as bad.  They do take a staggering 40% off of your hard earned money, they do NOT offer protection to the tutors.  They will take your money and drop you, they will spy on you.  They will destroy your reputation, and if your not careful, make you wish you were never was a tutor.  Beware of these cons, they will take your money and run (aka drop you), with no specific explanation.

The author of the original post is true the company dances around the real questions

The author of the post is absolutly 100% true. the comany reads your emails, big brothers you, and does not follow their policies if it does not work in their facor. If you complain they deactivate you. The customer service will be nice  and generec with " im sorry you feel this way" but they will not help rectify a situation and will still take your money. I tutored for them twice charging $30 they took $12 each time and then charged me $ 18 in a "fee" because a client who I did the work for and their customer service agreed I did the work. So in the end I spent 1.5 hours editing papers for a kid and one hour at anothers house tutoring for a grand total of $18. I hardly see how this is worth it. They are not interested in protecting the client or the tutor its al about getting paid and if they suspect anything they cut you. Google the company, read them on rip off report, amazon ( which the company recently deactivated the amazon portion of the site because of the bad reviews but if you google it will still come up). Ask your self this question, do real viable trustworthy compaines have to deactivate amazon and google accounts or is this the product of a scam artist trying to keep the truth from the light?

Wayzant Discriminates

AUTHOR: nigel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 04, 2012

As a former tutor of Wayzant I must say their policy is one-sided. It discriminates against educators and makes them out to be bad people. While I was approached by parents, I was able to respond but without putting any information for them to contact me. Wayzant has not in anyway protected educators from their policy.

When parents do not put their completed profile on Wayzant, you can have dialogue with the parent but as soon as the parent ask for your contact information, you are blocked. When I spelled out my information, I was DE-activated.

This is a violation on the EOE, if people are able to freely bid on jobs, its against the law to make the educator out to be a bad person because you wanted money. This is reason for reporting.

They are not in any way concern about any educator, its a money hungry company.

What author says is true

AUTHOR: tutorsa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 23, 2012

I used to work for Wyzant too. In fact, I found my OWN client on another web site and told that client about Wyzant and asked them to contact me on the Wyzant website. Later, I lost the person's information, so I asked them to email me at my home email address. Wyzant spied on my emails and dropped me as a tutor for "poaching". How can I poach, when I found the client myself? When I tried to explain, they didn't listen. Screw them. I work for myself now.

You can post on Weebly.com for free. You can also use Care.com or UniversityTutor.com--post for free and they won't take any of your commissions. The companies that take 40% commissions are for the birds....

Response from WyzAnt

AUTHOR: Andrew - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Daniel,

I'm very sorry that you had a negative experience with our company. We go to great lengths to be fair and to deliver value to the people who use our service, and it's disappointing to us that you came away dissatisfied.

WyzAnt does in fact take a 20-40% commission, which is clearly disclosed during the signup process and is transparent accross the site. There are currently 28,000 tutors listed on the site, and most find the commission arrangement to be a good trade-off for the promotion and business services they receive from WyzAnt.

WyzAnt's business model is predicated on trust and teamwork with our tutors, and wherever possible we prefer to let the tutors dictate the process. However, in order to maintain a safe, efficient marketplace, certain policies and precautions are necessary. For this reason, a small fraction of the correspondence that passes through our site gets flagged by our system for review.

As with all of our users, we value your feedback. If you wish to elaborate on your comments, I would be happy to discuss your experience and see if there's anything I can do to explain and resolve your concerns. Please contact feedback@wyzant.com or call 877-WYZANT-1.

WyzAnt was founded in 2005 and has helped millions tutors and students connect for private lessons while maintaining an A rating from the Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/tutoring/wyzantcom-in-chicago-il-88349022).

If you'd like to read feedback from over 600 WyzAnt tutors, please visit http://www.wyzant.com/TutorWyzAntReviews.aspx

Respectfully,

Andrew
WyzAnt, Inc.
