My son bought an X Box 360 from this store and had some problems with it. Screen freezing and making horrible noises. He was told that there was nothing wrong with the X Box.
Since then he moved to Michigan and I went to Best Buy to purchase one of my own. I did so yesterday, brought it home and played for several hours. Low and behold, it got the ring of death after one day of use.
I did research on this, as I'm sure we all have that have run into this problem, and it seems that certain suppliers use different solder and some are prone to overheat and break the connection from the mother board. The solder used is more brittle it seems. Wikkipedia, with give you all kinds of answers.
My complaint and buyer beware is this: Best Buy in Bradenton obviously uses the same supplier for their X Box 360s. Out of two that we have bought from them, in the amount of around $700, have had something wrong. Seriously wrong!
This store obviously has a bad batch. The latest one I purchase was made on 9/1/2008. If you are looking to suprise that special child or just aquire one for yourself and find yourself at this Best Buy store #1141 in Bradenton, FL. I would be very wary of getting one here. Go to another store.

Before you buy the Black Tie Protection for the xbox 360 do your research!!!
It has s changed...
If it malfunctions after the 30 days, Best Buy will send it off for repair under your BTP, and within a couple of weeks they will send you the console back repaired or you will get a refurbshed one.But they will no longer exchange it for you in the store and no where down the line will you ever get a new xbox 360.
Honestly, it's not worth the money and I no longer offer them.

Sorry, I posted the wrong one earlier. I forgot I was responding to an XBox 360 questions. Xbox 360's have a three year manufactuers warranty. My fiancee has one and my brother they both got the red ring of death and they caleld Microsoft. Microsoft sent them UPS boxes overnight. They sent them to XBOX and the very next week got new ones. Good luck. Also, at Best Buy you have the option to buy a Black Tie Replacement Plan so, if anything goes wrong Best Buy will replace it on site in the store.

If you do not buy a service plan on the item Best Buy does not have any obiligation to repair your computer. They did not make it. Second off, why in God's name would you buy a Dell. They are the biggest pieces of junk on the market today. Cheap price=cheap crap. I was really disappointed when Best Buy agreed to sell Dell's. Dell was running out of business and pretty much told Best Buy they'd pay them to carry their crap PC's. It is still your job as a consumer to research what you're buying. If you did you'd find the answer I already knew. If it's within 14 days just return it and get a HP or something decent.
