I recently purchased an Apple iPad mini from the Apple store, but didn't understand the value of Apple Care and shortly after dropped and cracked the screen. In order to avoid paying the original price of the device I began searching for a local cell phone repair location and came across X press Cellular Repair.
X press Cellular Repair seemed very clean and professional when i first walked in. I asked the man behind the counter for pricing information and what I was looking at as far as time frame went and was told it would be finished in 45 minutes. I filled out the paperwork and left my iPad with him with a quote of $180.00.
About 35 minutes had passed and I called to find out the status of the repair and surprisingly I was routed to the answering machine which stated the location was closed for the day and given a cell number I could reach them at for any questions. I called and received voice mail where I left a message. I didn't receive word regarding my repair until the following day when I went into the location.
At the store I was greeted by a different man and was told that they attempted to contact me numerous times using my cell number and didn't leave voice mails. I asked if my iPad was ready and was told they completed the repair, but that it was now not responding to touch at all. I asked what they could do about that as it worked when i dropped it off just had a single crack in the display but still was fully operational. I was asked to wait a moment while he checked his invoice to see whether or not he would be receiving a new, working part in his upcoming shipment the following day. After about ten minutes waiting he came back to the front of the store and said that he would in fact be getting the part in his shipment and he would email me as soon as the repair was completed the next day. Upset, i agreed to wait since I had no other option.
The next day I received an email message from X Press stating they had gone to their vendor and the vendor ended up being out of stock and told me he would order the part and my repair wouldn't be ready for another 5-7 business days. This was extremely frustrating as I had been asked to wait while he checked his invoice the day before , which meant to me that he was checking to ensure it would be included in an order which had already been shipped scheduled to arrive , not a list of items he was going to go pick up from his vendor. Of course I was upset and replied stating that I should have taken the non working iPad somewhere else to be repaired because it would have been faster and let him know I was leaving town and would contact him upon returning so I could finally pick up my repaired iPad.
I have not heard a single thing via email or phone and was unable to walk in store as they were either closed already or not answering their door , which was locked during posted business hours, at the Plano location. I have not been able to at least obtain possession of my iPad period.
