I've dealt with these crooks since signing up for something else nearly 5 months ago and clicking on one of their offers for a free restaurant card. I've followed all of their required procedures to a tee, culminating with submitting my "authenticated confirmation certificate" to them about 3 months ago. (Based on the number of steps involved in the process, one can only suspect that their first goal is to discourage you from even bothering).

Anyway, I never did receive the free gift card, even after allowing the "up to 8 weeks." Since that time, I've gotten absolutely nowhere with their so-called Customer Service. I have been keeping all of their email replies, which are typically of the automated variety and all signed by "Tang," who I hope (for his sake) is not a real person. I now have a dozen emails from them! Here are the actual contents of the email messages you will get from these folks, no matter what your circumstances or how long it's been.

I got this one seven times, even when it was long past due and after I provided them the information to "investigate"):

Hello,

The Gift Center gets a large volume of gift card orders everyday and they're processing them as quickly as they can. Please reply back with your name and shipping address and we will investigate and re-ship if necessary.

Thank You,

This one below is my favorite. They sent this one to me after I threated to report them to various consumer agencies. It made absolutely no sense, since the email address in question was the one I had been using all along!

Hello, [my email address] is not a valid email address. Do you have another email address?

Thank You,

Today, after basically telling them that I am going to write to all of their "partner" companies (Netflix, Columbia House, etc.), I got this amazing reply:

Hello,

There's been a delay in processing. We've temporarily run out of your gift card and are waiting for more gift cards to come in. Your gift card will be sent out as soon as supplies come in.

Thank You,

I would love to actually see the office of this business. Naturally, they provide only a post office box. Based on the other complaints I've seen, their tactics are predictable. What's amazing is that they have been able to continue this outright fraud for so long. Everyone who has been promised a gift card by YourGiftCards.com and not received it should flood the sponsoring companies and the consumer agencies (California Attorney General, etc) with letters. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!

FINALLY...no gift card, but a CHECK instead!!!

AUTHOR: Eric - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 13, 2004

After almost six months, they sent me a letter. When I opened it, I was surprised to find a check for the amount that my gift card was supposed to be. The accompanying letter stated that due to "overwhelming response" to their offers, they have run out of the restaurant gift cards. Instead, they are providing a check in the same amount.

I guess I can't complain about that - a check (provided it doesn't bounce) is as good as a gift certificate. But I'm convinced that I would never have received anything if I had not stayed on this, week after week, and get emailing both their customer service, as well as various agencies (like the California Attorney General) and the company that sponsored the click-through internet advertising in the first place. Maybe my persistence paid off. And maybe the growing number of complaints posted on this web site helped, too!

I advise anyone dealing with YourGiftCards.com to do the same - pepper the company and its affiliates with emails, send complaint letters to agencies, and post your experiences on this site. If you're lucky, you'll get your gift card or some cash eventually. They are either terribly run and inept, or simply hope that most people won't follow through.
