Beware of any text messages you may receive coming from a number claiming to be Chase Bank. I received this text message from 28107, then they called me from 203-871-1304: "FREE MSG: Chase Fraud-Did you use card ending 7674 for $58.42 at a clothing store on 05/09/2015? If YES reply 1, NO reply 2". I knew something wasn't right because this isn't my card number and they wouldn't get my card number wrong, plus they wouldn't say something generic like "a clothing store". I called the bank to verify and the message didn't even come from them. Be very careful!

It is legitimate

AUTHOR: Hong - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, December 05, 2015

I got messages like this in May, August, November and December.  I ignored them until today when the amount is bigger than before. I originally thought there were spams because the number used by Chase to send security code is different from this one (28107).  Out of caution, I called Chase and found there were much more declined charges than those indicated in the text messages. My card has apparently been compromised. They are sending me a new card.

I have to say that Chase does a very good job in declining fraudulent charges.  I check transactions every month, and have not found a single fraudulent transaction.

Same Message From the Same Number and it *Was* from Chase!

AUTHOR: Erica - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 05, 2015

I'm not sure what happened in your case, but I just discovered your post while doing a quick search on whether or not CHASE would send me a fraud alert text message from the number 28107.

I received a message tonight almost identical to yours...

FREE MSG: Chase Fraud-Did you use card ending [last four digits of my card] for $48.40 at a women's clothing store on 11/05? If YES reply 1, NO reply 2

...and just now called the number on the back of my Chase card to find out what was happening.

After confirming my identity, the automated system proceeded to ask me if I recognized a certain transaction that was attempted today "for $48.40 at a women's clothing store". I pressed 3 to say, no, I did not recognize this transaction. Then a live agent came on the line and again verified my identity and explained that someone had made an unsuccessful attempt to make a purchase online using my card and named the particular online store.

After confirming that I had not used the card, she verified my address, canceled my card, and initiated a new card with a new number to be mailed out to me.

In summary: CHASE does send fraud-alert texts from 28107 to their card-holders.

The text message is legit

AUTHOR: Ben D - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, August 15, 2015

The text message is legit. I received a similar text from Chase fraud text 28107 on 8/14/15. Instead of responding to the text, I called the customer service number on the back of my Chase card. There was an automated message about fradulent charges. I was also transferred to a rep who confirmed extactly what was stated in the text I received. They closed my card and reissued me a new card/account number.

Bogus Chase Bank Fraud Alert

AUTHOR: Jocko - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2015

I have also received 3 text messages saying that "Chase-Fraud" has reported a $130.00 charge on my card ending in 3414. This is kind'a hard because a) I don't use Chase Bank, and b) I don't have any credit cards, in fact, I closed out my last credit card in 2010. Nice try.
