On July 6, 2011 I called AAA to fix a flat tire for my 20 year old daughter for safety reasons, I could have changed it myself as a donut was in the trunk.  The technician showed up and was rude and unprofessional, he was hot and in a hurry.

After he changed the tire, my daughter pulled out onto Turkey Lake Rd, No rain, sunny day, 45 mph road, she did not get 1000 ft before the tire popped off, causing her to lose control of vehicle.  She did a 360 spin and jumped the sidewalk (thank goodness no one was on side walk) and ended up facing the wrong way up a grade in the grass, very upset and shaken.

I immediately called AAA back to tow the car to mechanic as she now had 3 other flat tires and the donut off the rim.   At that time I did not realize what caused the accident and payed AAA to tow the vehicle.

The Head Mechanic of the shop told me the Donut did not have enough air in it and caused the tire to pop off bead.   I paid to have all the tires replaced, rims, and alignment from accident and tried to call AAA numerous times to no effect.

I finally received a phone call back from AAA when I had an attorney contact them.  AAA response was:    AAA follows all safety procedures and they are not at fault and will accept no liability.  They did, however, reimburse me for the tow truck....wonder why???

They have BAD technicians and poor customer service and DO NOT care about their members, they only want to protect their name.   I am disgusted with their attitude and service, will never do business with them again.

Would suggest to all:  Please do not trust your children to AAA service they are a poor excuse for an auto club service.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

It would be the car owner's responsibility

to be sure the "donut" spare has the proper air pressure...usually 60#. It's really easy to forget the spare when checking tire pressure.  It's also vitally important the 4 regular road tires be at their recommended pressure for safety reasons.  Sounds like they were critically low on air pressure too.  Small home compressors are fairly reasonable in price and can be put to good use.

The AAA driver may or may not have noticed it,  but it should have been a little apparent when the jack was removed and the tire was on the ground.

How fortunate your daugher or someone else wasn't injured.
