I took my vehicle to Abe's Auto Service after receiving a quote for a repair of front and rear transmission leaks from a local service company for 600.00. I call "Abe" and explained my repair needs, and he advised he could repair it for much cheaper and to bring it in. The following day I brought it in and explained what the other company had diagnosed. He said no problem he could order the parts and have it done very quickly. The next day he called and explained that I had all these other parts that needed replaced or my vehicle would break down, but the part were not very expensive and he could do it very quickly.
5 days later I received a call that the repairs where completed and I could pick up my vehicle. Upon arrival he said all repairs were made, it ran great but now had a "check engine light" and he didn't know why? really? It now idled high and the light would not come off. He then gave me the bill, almost 1400.00, the labor charges where as much as the parts (that were supposed to be very inexpensive) after my stunned silence, he then said "oh by the way, you still need to fix the leak in the transfer case" , the original reason that I brought the vehicle to his show in the first place.
He then said he was giong on a family reunion, and didn't know when he would have time to look at it, but it would take 7 or 8 hours (labor charges) just to check it out.. Interesting that the repair on Utube takes less than an hour. I then drove it home and parked it, having to go out of county the next day. I returned a week later to find my vehicle in a giant pool of transmission fluid. I call Abe only to be told, well I told you that it needed to be fixed.
I then called a friend, a trained Dodge Mechanic to come and look at my vehicle and I showed him my bill from Abe. He stated that a connector had been unplugged and that's why it was throwing the code and check engine light. He stated someone whould have to have pulled it out. Then looking at my bill and doing multiple price checks online, he said that I was triple and sometime quadruple charged for parts and labor. The repairs I was charged for shouldn't have taken more than a day at the most, for everything, including what was not done. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Abe's Auto Service refused to respond after multiple attempts.
