In a moment of weakness, I clicked on an online ad that appeared on my MySpace page about a woman who tried both Acai Berry Power 500, and the Total Cleanse dietary supplements promoted by Oprah and Dr. Oz, to detoxify the body and lose weight. She said both companies after free trials, for which you only pay the shipping. (I saw nothing that mentioned a time limit, such as 14 day trial offer or anything. I thought it was a one-shot thing - I pay the shipping, they send me the stuff.)

I signed up for both. So far the Total Cleanse one seems to be OK and hasn't additionally charged me.

A charge of $89.31 appeared on my bank account from SIMPLY FIT PRO. I called the customer service number that appeared on the charge on my online banking (1-877-361-8606), and asked for the name of their company, and they got rattled and refused, saying that "This is Customer Service. We provide customer service for a number of companies." They needed my phone number to look at my account, and I refused to give it.

After talking to my bank, I called the customer service phone number of the fishy company again and this time (against my better judgment) I gave my phone number so they would talk to me. They asked my name, which I gave, and spelled out, and then they said that I did not have an account with them, and asked for my husband's name, which I didn't give.

I waited a few days because the charge on my account was still "Pending" status and the bank told me they needed to wait to see if the company would send them a receipt before they could file a claim.

Today I called a different customer service number for this company, one I got from rip-off.com and which also appears on the return address label of the package I received from the company (1-801-208-7485). The customer service individual asked if I was calling to cancel my account. I said, "I'm calling because there was a charge of $89.51 that I did not authorize." The person immediately started to argue with me and started quoting the Terms and Conditions, stating that if I didn't want to be charged I had to call a certain number within 14 days, and I hadn't done that.

I read other people's reports on ripoffreport.com about this same scam, and I realized I had neglected to click on the link of the Terms and Conditions, and that I might not be able to do anything about this since it was technically/legally my own fault for not reading the Terms and Conditions.

So today, I called the company's Customer Service again, gave my phone number, and asked to cancel my account. They did so (I hope), and gave me a confirmation number. Also, because of reading someone else's report on ripoffreport.com, I informed them that I do not wish them to use my personal information to promote sell their products, or to give away or sell my personal information to any third party for any reason. They agreed to make that change. The person informed me that I'd already been charged $89.31 and offered to refund it, and said that the refund should go through within 3 to 5 days.

I called my bank to inform them of the situation and that the company promised me a refund within 5 days. If not, the bank will issue me a temporary credit in that amount and will try to collect the money from this company. I'll post an update later this week to say whether they actually refunded the money or not.

Thank you to the other people who have written reports on this scam - you've helped me. And I hope this report helps someone else.
