 I decided to look into home security so I decided to contact ADT since they are the biggest company. I called and spoke to a sales person and decided to get the ADT pulse, they told me someone would be available for the install that day . My credit card was charged $106 for the install almost immediately. The installer arrived around 3 and we discussed the equipment. After that was decided he started the install. After at least an hour of not being able to do the install he asked me if I have an AT&T signal, I said no only Verizon. He said they only work through AT&T and Going through Verizon would be extra. I agreed and signed the contract. By 9PM he still couldn't install, I told him I had to be up at 5 AM and he said he could come back Tuesday (this was Saturday). He said his manager would call me to set up the appointment. The next morning my credit card was charged $60. By Monday I hadn't heard from the manager so I sent a txt to the installer and asked if he was coming tomorrow. He said no he was too busy and would let me know when he could come . Two days later he txt me and said he could come Thursday , I told him that was no good. He was finally Able to come the following Tuesday. Again he spent 3 hours at my house and couldn't install anything. He finally told me he wouldn't be able to do it through Verizon and would need to install a big gateway box, I told him no it wasn't what I signed up for and I should've been told that you need AT&T cell tower to get wireless service with them, not being able to work through Verizon is a big deal. He told me to call and arrange a refund and cancellation of my contract and they wouldn't give me a problem. I called a couple of days later and after waiting on hold and speaking to 2 different people I was apologized to and told someone from their resolutions department would call me to arrange the cancellation and refund within 72 hours. After a week of not hearing from anyone I called back. I spoke to another woman who was shocked that no one called me and she would get someone from that department on the line. She came back and said everyone in that department was in s meeting but someone would call as soon as it was over. After another week went by and j didn't hear from them I called my credit card and disputed the charges and put a merchant block on my card. I finally wrote an online review on consumer affairs and the company responded and I told them I want my money refunded , contract canceled and equipment removed from my basement floor where it had been for 3 weeks. They responded and said they couldn't because my contact wasn't with ADT it was with Defender and independent contractor and I would need to take it up with them. I told him if he bothered to read my review prior to responding he would know I did take it up with them. He told me someone would call me. To my surprise someone called me that night, they sent me my contract cancellation and came the next day to pick up gone equipment. Everyone was very apologetic and I thought I'm finally rid of them. 2 days later I received a txt from ADT to call them. I called and spoke to an extremely rude man who told them I owe them $24 and how would I like to pay. I had to laugh at this point. I asked him what it was for and he told me they monitored my home the prior month . I told him the equipment was never installed they monitored the corner of my basement. After some yelling back and forth I hung up, but I was told if I didn't pay the bill it was going into collections. This is the most unethical company I have ever dealt with. ADT is one big scam
