Aflac representatives use high pressure, buy it right now tactics when signing up employees at a company. Feeling reassured I could "cancel anytime" I signed up for all 7 policies offered. I came into my office to pick up my paycheck, and kept saying I needed to talk it over with my husband who wasn't with me. The agent pressured me saying that was the only day they'd be there, I can cancel unwanted policies later, and with the pre tax deductions, my take home pay actually wouldn't change but fourteen dollars. I found out I couldn't cancel anything until open enrollment, my take home pay was actually almost a hundred dollars a week less.
I knew there was nothing I could do but wait, so I did. Open enrollment came up, I called to cancel. They pressured me, made me beg and explain, not just once, over and over they transferred me to another agent, over an hour I persisted, being told my changes would take place in June.
June came and went, the premiums still was being payroll deducted. Near end of June came I called, they said there was a note I had called to cancel but since they had not recorded the call, I had no recourse but to wait until next open enrollment to cancel. Open enrollment was over. They would cancel one of the two post tax policies, only one. They said it was not them, it was the IRS.
This began (asking to cancel) November 2014. June 2015 was the first open enrollment I was told about (after much begging at my company). I had to wait until the following fall. I found out about open enrollment on the very last day. The agent who's contact number I was given, answered and after I told him I needed to cancel, blew me off saying he was busy, never called me back.
December 2015, Aflac continued to payroll deduct premiums for the one policy that was cancelled, but had began in October 2015 to issue refund checks once a month. The illegally collected premiums after cancel for nearly a year, on a weekly bases refunding without interest monthly. They did not issue a refund for 4 months following policy cancel (only 1 of 7 policies)
January 2016, I told my boss I would have to quit because I can't cancel Aflac and can't afford the premiums. My car loan was in default. I was told several employees had issues with them and we could now cancel anytime.
February 2016 all policies cancelled. January 2016 was when the 1 policy I cancelled in June 2015 finally stopped being payroll deducted.
