Dispute the claim

AUTHOR: Elf - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 29, 2012

If you have never had an account with T-Mobile, write to the collection agency stating this.  Tell them firmly, but politely, that you dispute their claim that you owe the money.  AFNI is obligated under law to verify the debt and send copies of said verification to you.

Keep in mind you must do this in writing.  Send the letter registered with return receipt.  Photocopy the letter and the envleope and attached the receipt to the photocopy.

Without this, it's possible for AFNI to claim you never sent any denial.  They can still deny you sent it, but with the photocopy and the receipt, it will be very difficult for them to counter your claim that you did.
