Researched tablets by going to a number of websites, Google, Microsoft, Acer, Ainol-Novo and a number of others.

I wanted at least the following: size, at least 10 inch, HDTV capable, minimum 32gb internal storage (hard-drive) and external card slot.

Finally settled on the Ainol Novo Captain as it had all the features I wanted and the price was decent. I mainly did searches on it with "Comparison". Reviews by 'experts' seemed to appear it was effecient and one to consider.

Big mistake!!

Bought it through their website, ainol-novo.com. When it came, I noticed even though it was a website based in America, it was shipped from China. Should have been my first red flag...not yet.

Once booted up, I immediately had an issue as I couldn't read many things that were in Chinese. It was okay, as I could change the language to English and deleted all the chinese apps and started installing my own as I had on my Android phone.

Took time to install, set up display as I like, all the things one does with their smart phone or tablet.

Then I noticed the delay. As I installed some of the apps, boot up became slower and app use was slower than on my smart phone AND on the simple tablet made by an American company I had set up for a friend.

I looked into setup and to my wonderment, the hard-drive was only 1gb!!! With a 32gb internal 'card'.

Now, if you don't know about Android, I will give you a brief summary. The space on the internal hard-drive is critical. The more space used up, the slower your android performs. If your android has an external card slot, this allows you to put images, music, video, documents, etc. on it to keep your hard-drive with more room.

Three things are at least critical for a great performing Android - space, space and more space. Three things I do to keep space:

1 - Store media on my external card as much as possible.
2 - Move apps cabable of moving to the external card (the widget won't work but if you don't plan on using it, move it.)

3 - Get a good android system app to keep your tablet/phone in top performance.

Another critical note about Androids...they keep apps open in the background, whether you opened them or not. Unlike a computer, where you can shut down your programs, the Android thrives on open apps, so the more apps on your internal hard-drive, the more space you better have.

So, back to the newly found 1gb hard-drive. I found that for what appeared to be a great tablet, was worse than the most simple ones based on their horrible 1gb internal hard-drive. It was pathetic.

I went to their site and there it was..."32gb internal storage"...no mention of a 1gb hard-drive.

What Ainol-Novo did was put a LITTLE, CHEAP, INTERNAL HARD-DRIVE IN, and an 'Internal Card', almost no different than an external card and declare it as a 32gb storage, and the masses believe it is a 32gb internal hard-drive.

Had Ainol Novo stated it was a 1gb internal hard-drive AND a 32gb internal card, I can guarantee you, I wouldn't have bought and possibly not a lot of others.

But it gets worse. I went to their site - No contact phone number and no email address. I had to fill out a webpage contact form requesting return shipment and money back. Twice. And no reply.

I must have hit a nerve...or the truth. That their advertising description could be construed as fraud.

So I filed a complaint with Paypal, which came back and stated they would honor my complaint..."However, you must send the item back first" and here is the address to China.

I went to the post office and it would cost me ALMOST $300.00 in shipping!!! Whoa....WTF?? I get it shipped to me for $40 and I have to pay almost what it cost me??

So I do my due diligence and find the website address, return it their and notify Paypal. They refuse again because I didn't ship it back to China. "Well, we do a lot of importing from China" the Paypal representative states.

Hmm, that's a reason to rip me off?

So, Plan C, which I knew I would have to do. I contacted my bank, having used my bank card, explained the circumstances that the product is NOT what they advertise, that I did return it.

Money back.

I don't care if Paypal was stuck holding the 'bag', shame on them. They probably debited Ainol-Novo anyway. Shame on Ainol-Novo.

It taught me ONE GREAT BIG LESSON...

Don't buy Chinese products.

Buy American.

I went and bought a simpler American tablet and have enjoyed it over coffee at breakfast and periodically through the day.
