I thought this school was suppose to be accredited and in business for 40+ years, and in New York it might be true. In New York it might even be a decent school. However here in Arizona it's Medical Coding and billing department is only 3 years old and not well recognized.
The Allen School is not what you expect in a college or university. Also be prepared to provide your financial and personal documents to these people 4+ times as they will lose them.
Also be prepared to babysit there financial aid department, there administrative department...everybody, also expect them not to follow through on any thing they say to you. Check and double check and make sure they provide you documented proof of all of this. I failed to do this and now due to them not filing paperwork on time I am in default of my student loan.
If you get nothing else out of this than please make sure you do this, not just for the Allen school but for any online school. Make sure they report to the National Clearing House for Student loans, as well as the NSLDS and make sure they provide you written documentation of this.
If they do not seem to know what either of these agencies are 'RUN' don't walk away and save yourself a lot of grief and mental anguish not to mention your credit score. Unfortunately this advise came far to late to save my credit score so I can only hope it saves yours.
It's online convenience is far over shadowed by it's technical, it's administrative, and financial aid nightmares.

Allen School's response is honest and truthful in the fact that all of the financial aid issues that this applicant alludes to were created by the applicant herself. She was not truthful with our financial aid department regarding her past history at another institution. Allen School did due diligence and found that the student had issues at another institution that were not mentioned by the applicant. As a result, the financial aid process had to start again from scratch. The applicant should be blaming herself for not being honest, not our institution. To clarify, the student loan that she defaulted on was at another institution, not Allen School. It was from an institution that the student had attended previously. She cannot blame our institution for her damaged credit score based upon her inability to follow up on a loan with another institution. By the way, if she was trained properly by that other institution, she would have a job which would enable her to pay back her loan and not be looking to attend our institution. No financial aid was ever taken at our institution by this applicant.
We have been in business since 1961 and the main campus IS, in fact, in New York. Arizona is a recent branch campus approved by the Council of Occupational Education and licensed by the state of Arizona. Our expertise in offering programs and having over 70,000 graduates goes back almost 50 years. We know what we are doing.
