While I was at the traffic court in Vista California yesterday, I was told by Alliance One that I did not completely pay a red light camera ticket from 8 years ago or December 2000. They want another $190 now and threatened to suspend my license. I recall I paid about $355 and then there was a law suit and many tickets were dismissed. They had copies of my original court paperwork but will not give me a copy. They had printouts of how much I paid them, and when, but they will not give me a copy. They said it belongs to the court and cannot be released. THIS IS EXTORTION.
I had just finished high school 8 yrs ago, and was still living at my mom's house. Yesterday they wrote up a new court paper just saying "balance due" $190 and showing the ticket # from 12/00. They handed me that and a photocopy of the ticket mailed to me 8 yrs ago which had no fee, just the location of the camera. I have been in this same town, driving for the past 8 years, renewed my driver's license and registration and never heard about any $190 debt to Alliance One. It will probably cost more that $190 to get an attorney involved. If anyone has any suggestions, I sure would like to hear them.

This collection agency is on the verge of going out of business.
They are KNOWN FDCPA VIOLATORS - including trying to collect on time barred debts.

Alliance One, Inc. is headquartered out of Trevose, Pennsylvania but they have call centers all over the world. This company has managed to gobble up several different debt collectors and bring them under their umbrella.
Alliance One announces the acquisition of Pacific Coast Collections Inc., (PCC) located in San Diego, California.
PCC had a terrible reputation for abuse of consumers; let's hope they clean up the dirty mess left by PCC.
Why does this agency seem to be crumbling under it's own management?
Just how bad is the training in San Diego? Why does management allow so many violations of the FDCPA? Are collectors REALLY sent out to homes and businesses to effect collections? Just how desperate are Marlene and Michael Hale to hold onto power at Alliance One? Will they really go to any ends to effect collections?
If this sounds like a sick soap opera than you need to stay far away from Alliance One and it's cast of cast offs. This is a sinking ship with rats all over the place. Everyone needs to sat far away from them, least they be caught up in the stink of this organization.
