Let me begin this letter by stating I am greatly disappointed with my experience in dealing with Allstate movers. My specific complaint is the supposed weight of my possessions, which you claim, came to a total of 6,260 lbs. The weight of those items are to say the least constitute an open fraud on the part of Allstate.

I was never given any receipt of weight that you claimed you would do after my possessions were loaded onto your truck on August 26, 2002. I gave you several calls, which you managed to brush me off stating your so-called accounting department had not turned in an alleged weight receipt. Moreover, after a half a dozen or so phone calls asking for the specific weight of my possessions and the price of moving those articles to Grand Rapids, Michigan. You came up with some half baked answers cutting me short that you were busy with an alleged customer, always telling me that you call right back, which you never did

When I informed you of my final forwarding address. shipping date you stated the it came in at 6,260 lbs. There is no certified record of vehicle's net weight only a gross weight of 23,760 lbs. Enclosed is copy of weight receipt.

Your statement says some sixty boxes all toll. I cannot dispute this number some thirteen (13 boxes). In this case none of these weight more than 25 to 40 lb. each. Total approximately 400lbs

Except for one, which was a dresser mirror, that weighed 65lbs, which comes to 465lbs totaled with other boxes comes to a total of 2026 lbs. Subtracting that weight from 6260 is 4679lbs.

The balance of my possessions was mostly furniture some thirty-eight (38) items, which would according to your weight average out, to 98lbs per item. Thirty of these items average 40lbs each = 1200lbs. The heaviest items are the king-size mattress and 36 TV perhaps 200 lbs each, (400) lbs total. Total weight total 1600lbs. Total weight 3181lbs. Giving you the benefit of the doubt I have added 10% to that weight, adding 318lbs to above total, which is 3500lbs. Subtracting 3500 form 6260 =2760lbs excess weight. At your rate claim of $0.58 per pound under 5000lbs comes to an over charge of $1600.00

When I challenged your weight amount you stated that I could have it weighed there, but I would have to pay another hundred dollars or more to compensate driver's time and weight fee. You claim your weight is accurate because the weight in a certified weight station, but this claim of yours is invalid proof since the station only certifies the weight not the contents of an owner. You could add a baby elephant to the load and the person who weighs the load would not know nor would he care.

I know you will everything possible not to rectify my complaint, because you and Allstate have shown you are nothing but blatant con-artists and out right swindlers. I have no other alternative except to notify the New York State Attorney General. I have included NY Channel #5 TV and NY TV Channel #7 to inform them know underhanded tricks.

In conclusion, Allstate Moving & Storage Company have proven to be nothing but cheap frauds whose underhanded practice seeks out every opportunity in order to cheat its customers. I think it's time to inform the public about your shady practice.
