Alpha G&E promised to reimburse me for one month of usage but has failed to do so.    Back in May 2014, I submitted a request for reimbursement while I was still one of their customers. In June one of their reps called me to explain that the amount I was seeking ($221.53) was for a month that was outside the 12 month window allowed. She said that the correct reimbursement amount should have been ~$134. I accepted her explanation and the amount verbally on the phone and was told that this amount would be submitted for processing. When I asked if I needed to do anything else I was told no.    Because Alpha G&A's rates increased so dramatically, I switched providers in early September. I called Alpha G&A today, 9/9/14, to follow-up on the status of my reimbursement and was told that I needed to resend my information (my bill from Central Hudson showing the Alpha G&A charges for the month in question) before reimbursement could be made. I found this out today after explicitly asking if I needed to take any further action in my June call with them, being told no. This was supposed to be communicated to me by an Alpha rep but I guess they "forgot" to communicate this, as I never heard to anyone else from Alpha. I was then told that because my account is pending closure (since I switched back to Central Hudson), I am not entitled to the reimbursement any more.    The paperwork I originally received from Alpha G&A regarding their "One Month Free" program does indeed state "...and remain an Alpha Gas & Electric customer as of the date the request for the refund is sent to Alpha Gas & Electric." Because Alpha G&E dragged their feet in communicating with me regarding my request, I am apparently no longer entitled to my refund. I will obviously not do business with them again and encourage others to use caution.
