I have been selling on Amazon over a year! I have never had a package that I have bought or one I have sent that has never arrived! I've sold over 34 articles this year and have held a 5 star rating! Amazon has suddenly closed my seller account saying I have not met their performance standard! How you do that, carrying a five star rating the past 12 months is beyond me! I have recently been in dispute with A to Z claims through Amazon who refunded a buyer for a lenses he gave Amazon a fraudulent address that also was insufficient! The address was his employer which is a large firm that had several buildings at that address and each had several floors! the buyer never even supplied his name on shipping label which Amazon gave me to mail to! The firm has no mail delivery but has Firm Caller Service through the USPS and they send an authorized agent to pick up the mail daily from the USPS! The mail was delivered and scanned as delivered to address by USPS on a specific date and time! The buyer contacted me that package never arrived! I even had my Supervisor at the Post office it was mailed from, contact the Post office it was delivered by! They explained that the address had multiple buildings and they have their mail picked up daily by an authorized agent! It was picked up and scanned delivered the date stated! Amazon had USPS dates of when shipped, cost, when it arrived and when delivered! They also had my Supervisors name and phone number to call and further verify all information! A to Z issued the buyer a refund of $560.49 from my account in which I sold other merchandise from! I am out a $560.00 lens and I paid another $560.00 to a buyer, confiscated out of my account! Now after sending an appeal and four request to escalate Amazon suddenly has closed my listings and account!

Amazon states that sellers need to send signature confirmation, besides delivery confirmation, but they only reimburse Seller for delivery confirmation! I just received a Kindle Fire I bought for my wife! No signature required and left on porch! Perhaps Sellers who have gotten ripped off by Amazon should begin ordering expensive merchandise and just claiming not arrived and request refunds or another delivery! That way the Sellers who have made Amazon so much money selling could recoup what Amazon has ripped off them to repay fraudulent claims! After all, they don't even practice what they now insist the Sellers must do to protect their merchandise sent when a buyer says it did not arrive! I've been dealing with Amazon many years and highly recommended them always!

Now I would say they are more crooked than the consumers who go out of their way to rip off these big companies!

USPS?

AUTHOR: Josh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 28, 2011

Seriously, were you born stupid, or was Amazon responsible for that, too?  Who the hell uses USPS for anything worth more than $20 or so?  And why would you ship something without checking the address and at the very least making sure there is a RECIPIENT NAME?  Obviously, with a wrong address, it won't get delivered, and it's not Amazon's problem but yours.

With a real delivery service (UPS or Fedex), they would have maybe at least tried to call you or locate the recipient.  At the very least, the tracking page would have said who signed for the package, and you could start tracking it down from there.  I'm sure USPS just delivered it to a completely random mailbox, and some random person now has your lens.  And "delivered" really means absolutely nothing with USPS -- packages often get marked as "delivered" as soon as they hit the destination post office.  So really, this is 100% your fault.  I'm sure if you purchased a product and it got lost because the seller shipped it with USPS, you would be upset with the seller and ask for your money back.

Oh, and for the record: Amazon will pay to replace items stolen from your porch.  That's a risk they are willing to take.  If you are not willing to take that risk -- don't ship with USPS, and make sure to require a signature.

You ignored their directive on signatures

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

You admit that Amazon wanted you to ship items signature required, and you chose not to to save however many dollars or cents that would have involved. Now you're paying the price for being penny wise and pound foolish.

Amazon perhaps does not require signature on their own shipments because they're willing to take the risk and will refund, at least once, a shipment where the buyer claims not to have received it.

You evidently cannot afford the risks they can, and they figure that will be the case with many sellers like you. Hence their directive for you to do what they don't, to protect yourselves.

It can also be that your local postal carrier simply ignores required signatures on your route, and that Amazon does require it. In that situation, I would guess USPS or their insurer would owe Amazon if such a package goes missing.

You should be following their directive to the letter and shipping insured.

E-mailed Amazon President Jeff Bezos

AUTHOR: fisherdan54 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 24, 2011

I was foolishly hoping the president of Amazon might have some integrity so I e-mailed at jeffbezos@amazon .com! He had A to Z Specialist Chris S contact me e-mail! The guy tells me the USPS Delivery Confirmation only says that the package is at the zip code listed and does not prove it was delivered to the address!

I work at the USPS as a clerk 28 years and there is no scan done by a carrier until it is delivered at he address or transferred to a person authorized to receive the mail! So the A to Z Specialist doesn't have a clue what he is talking about! Then he states that it is worth the extra money to send signature confirmation and insured!  Amazon does not cover those expenses, nor does it follow the policy it requires Sellers to meet to protect them against Buyers who steal packages and get refunds for non delivery! I just ordered a Kindle Fire for wife and I also help scan "arrived at delivery unit" at the Danville Post office! Daily, I handle hundreds of Amazon Packages and all only have "delivery Confirmation"  I would assume that means, anyone who orders from Amazon has a FREE package in the mail by just stating it never arrived! Maybe after they send 3 or 4 to that address they might follow their own requirement on their Sellers to safe guard their merchandise! I really doubt that, because multi billion dollar companies like Amazon make so much money that $500.00 is like spitting on the side walk, and so are the Sellers they close out for sending appeals!

I have not lost faith in all business that make huge amounts of money! Some really do care and reward the people who help them make a profit! Some will do everything possible to do what is right toward their people and the people who buy from them! Amazon has no one in leadership who thinks past their pocket book! What goes around eventually comes around!
