Three years ago I signed up and joined Amazon's Prime membership. It offered free 2 day shipping on certain items and $3.99 to upgrade to next day. I order a lot from them so I thought the $79.99 annual fee was worth it. It was excellent for awhile and then last year UPS started handing off my packages to USPS and 2 day shipping arrived 3-6 days later. I called UPS and was told that was how Amazon had it set up. March 20, 2014 I called UPS due to an item I really needed was dropped off at the post office over 1 hour away. This was day 2 of the shipping. UPS told me 2nd day means the post office will get my package on the 2nd day, not me. Day 3 my package was dropped off to my local PO at 9:38 AM, my carrier departs at 7:00 AM. I recieve my package on Day 4. I called Amazon on March 20 after my call to UPS.

After 10 hours of email, chat and phone calls I was told I was on UPS Surepost andthat was how Surepost worked. They said they would take me off Surepost and label my shipments UPS Only, and all Amazon Packages would be shipped UPS Only, they could not control shipping for 3rd party sellers (which I totally understood), and this "would never happen again, I promise." I told the supervisor if it did Amazon would lose me at the end of my Prime membership (which had gone up to $99.99). I was given a $20.00 credit and 1 free month of Prime extended to my present membership. All went ok until yesterday, 32 days after my problem was fixed.

I ordered an item and on the delivery date I checked the tracking, and it had been handed to the USPS 35 miles south, in another city, and it was labeled UPS Surepost. Now after tracking USPS my 2 day shipping will be 5 day shipping. So I notified Amazon. I got the usual scripted apologies and "customer satifaction is our #1 goal" lines. And that my shipping preference was no guaranteed, and they had extensively trained their agents not to promise or gaurantee anything. But due to my situation they would refund my $9.06 in hopes to keep me as a customer. I told them an agent didn't promise me this would be fixed, a supervisor did. I was then told they would drop me from Surepost (again) and this wouldn't happen (again). I told them your promises may be empty, but mine aren't.

I will not renew Prime and Amazon will be a last resort only option for me, It is easy to lie to a customer and decieve him when you don't have to look them in the eye. They won't feel my loss, I only spend an average of $116.00 a month at their site, and some other unknowing person will fill my shoes. In the 2 instances, I spent a total of 22 hours on the computer and phone trying to get this straight, I was reimbursed a total of $37.39 (20 credit, 9.06 refund, 8.33 month of prime) that comes down to $1.70 an hour for 22 hours. All you are to Amazon is a number in a big tub of numbers, you are not a valued customer, you are not a human being. You are a number with a value of $1.70 per hour. At 10:42 AM today Amazon's stock was worth $327.37 per share, the CEO is worth 33 Billion. Why should they care about 1 customer? It's like taking a thimble full of water from the sea. No one will miss it.
