They are the poster child for all the bad things you hear about in the A/C industry from my experiences in dealing with them.

From my experience with AMTEK Air Conditioning, I have encountered classic bait n switch, vague work orders leaving out exact model numbers, incompetence, unprofessional conduct, disregard for the work area and come to find out over charged . When confronted with it Jim (the spin doctor) blamed me and said I was trying to take advantage of them because I wanted the exact Gold Series products purchased with all of the features presented to me before sighing the sales agreement, after all this was what was listed on the sales agreement. (Gold Series VS Silver Series) This seems to be a pattern with them to blame the customer from reading other reviews.

The issue here is they got caught, I'm not an elderly person like they have been accused of preying on in other reviews of Amtek that they think they can get over on because you just do not know better.

From the moment the contract was signed, things did not add up. The salesman sold me an American Standard Gold Series AC system. He kept talking of the 12 year warranty and variable speed blowers and other features. showing me brochures for the unit. The issue arose the first night trying research, A Gold series unit did not come in the size indicated. even though all of my paperwork indicated otherwise. I contacted the salesman do try to resolve the discrepancy, he texted me back that he had made a mistake and would speak to his boss about the matter. He called me back over the week end and said the would provide a air handler with the correct features that we discussed when negotiation the price of the unit but would not do anything about providing the correct condenser unit Gold 17 series. Monday morning comes around and I call the salesman and it goes to voicemail and I get an immediate text stating he was on the phone and would call me back. I indicated that there was still an issue he assured me that it would be resolved by text. They sent workers to remove my current working unit. this was the Monday before Christmas. Now with no AC they tell me that they will not honor there original contract and offered a refund but not to install my working unit they removed. so with Christmas and new years fast approaching, I backed down and agreed to the downgrade to a Silver 16, what they intended to pass off as a gold series. and they would install a UV light kit for the TAM7 air handler. Also no price reduction between the Gold Series to the Silver. The installers did nothing but put down my purchase saying how bad they are, the installer was also more concerned about going out for drinks then doing his job because be kept complaining about being here having to install this unit. he had a total disregard for my home, came in to my home with muddy shoes was just the start, damaging paint on a wall with a ladder and leaving stains on the carpet where he was working. trying to install a physically damaged unit.
Management used disparaging language to describe me after a phone conversation thinking I was no longer on the phone.

They were also supposed to install a UV light kit for my TAM7 air handler. This unit has a composite case, the universal kit they showed up with was magnetic mounted and 1" too long to fit inside the unit. The tech sent out to install it seemed baffled by the install, when he tried to install it if fell down 3 time before I put a stop to it and placed yet another call to unethical rude owner of this company.

To top it off the owner called me back and gave me a number to contact Trane about the compatibility of this universal UV kit to verify the compatibility of the unit and that it was recommended by them, (though they make there own UV kit for this unit). I though it was very strange that it was a local number. so I contacted Trane directly at the number on there website. I was told that they only have one UV kit for this unit and its manufactured and sold by them under Trane/American Standard brand name. they said they never recommend 3rd party universal UV kits be installed due to the damage the UV light can cause to wiring and the composite case of not properly located or shielded within the unit. Also while peaking with Trane the other issues were discussed and they filed an official dealer complaint.

The owner is not willing to budge an any aspect, his response is it will cost you more and you are trying to take advantage of him. Very bad business

Amtek and I have come to a settlement that I’m sure neither side is 100% satisfied with. But that is why it’s called a settlement agreement.
