I signed up for a free tiral of ancestry.com. Supposedly, if I was unhappy with the service, I could cancel my membership within 7 days and I would not be charged. I cancelled within 24 hours--just wasn't what I was looking for--and yet they still charged my credit card the $7.95 monthy fee.
When I logged in to my account to make sure it had been cancelled, it showed that I had "No Membership." How can I be charged for a membership I don't have? Ludicrous. The worst part is that they charged me AGAIN this month. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
It's left me with a really bad impression of the company as a whole. Even if I wanted to get a paid membership to do research in the future, I would most definitely not use ancestry.com.
