I went to Apex Aquarium looking for a corner aquarium with specific size requirements. 18 inch sides and 35 gallon capacity. Eric told me they could order me whatever I wanted. I placed the order with Rick the next day. I was very clear about the size needing to be 35 gallons. I was told it would be in in two days. It took a week. When I asked Eric about him originally telling me it would take 2 days, he said, "that was a hope."

When I picked up the tank, I asked Rick, "this is 35 gallons right." He said, "yep, 35 gallons. Just like you ordered." I bought the tank, a stand, filter etc. Over the phone I was told everything would run around $450. I ended up with a bill for $635.

When I got home, I set up the tank and realized it was only 20 gallons! Not the 35 gallons I ordered. I spoke with Eric, and he tried to blame me for not having the proper measurements. The tank they ordered was 24 inches tall. He said he would order me one that was 36 inches tall and that would be 35 gallons.

That came in a week later. I went to pick that up and dealt with Rick again. I got it home and this time it held only 25 gallons. This tank was only 30 inches tall--not 36 inches tall, and again, not 35 gallons.

I called and spoke to Rick and told him this. He then blamed me for not having the proper measurements! I told him that he was the one who did the measurements. His response was, "I don't know how to figure that out with these odd shaped aquariums." He hadn't told me this before.

I brought everything back the next day and said I wanted a refund. Eric then told me I had to deal with the old woman behind the counter--who had no idea what the details were and kept blaming me for the mix-up. In fact, Eric and Rick repeatedly blamed me for their mix-ups.

Eventually, though, I did get a full refund. But these guys were hell to deal with and obviously do not know what they are doing---and will do and say anything to make a sale. After some research on my part, I know I am not the only one with this experience. The woman behind the counter also tried to tell me that they have never had any problems with other customers.

No one ever took responsibility or apologized, etc. That would have gone a long way in my book. ALSO, when I brought the stuff back ,Eric tried to say "we aren't trying to rip you off or anything, but if you call tomorrow we can see if we can get you what you need."

Yeah. right.
