Hi, My name is shae. I got ripped off by the University of Phoenix. I was planning to attend they're school so I could get more time to spend with my daughter. I spoken to a enrollment consuler Ruben De Los Rios, I explained to him my situation that I am a single20yr mom, and I could not afford any extra expenses for school, and he informed me that there would be no out of pocket expenses, and I would even recieve my pellgrant as pocket money to do what ever, and my student loan would pay for all of my classes or I could us my pell grant to pay for my classes, but the school only needed me to have the loan on there records. I asked how much exactly is 2 classes for one qauter, and he said he would not know until I enrolled(which I did like a idiot). I started my classes I started to try to drop the classes in thevery begining, but I was told if you drop now I would still owe them, then my bro passed away so I dropped one, and for one class Ifound out at the end of the qauter cost me $1,950 dollars. Now I have people from apollo group calling and harrassing me everyday One girl is named Balanca williams, and she said if you enroll back into our school you would owe nothing, and if I didn't I would have to pay, and she was going to send it to collections. I feel that should be a fraud, and illegal. It seems these people are out for money and not the best interest in there students. I wish I would have been informed pior, and I would have never attended they're school. Now I want to go to another school they wont release my transcripts unless I pay of my balance of $950. I asked if I could pay payments, but they won't even work with. I tried to speak with several people , and all I got was nasty attitudes. I have spoken with Bonnie Brewer ,and Ruben de los rios. 2 of many

Well Shae: They sure took you. Did the same to me, wouldn't tell me how much my classes would be until after I was in. Now you can look in the course catalogue, which I did, but I thought I was paying for IT classes, but they put it under business so they cost over 50% more.

For one thing, just forget about your transcripts. You live in Georgia a state that doesn't recognize UOP, so none of the classes will be acceptable as transfers anyway.
If you get any bills from lenders, for the school fees, call them directly and say you did not authorize the charge, just go around UOP.

Then go to a regular brick and mortar community college. You said you have a child, but at least out west, a lot of community colleges have child care facilities on-site, and if you don't have a job they can help you out with the financial arrangements. You will get a much better education, real help from real instructors and tutors, and it will cost you about one-tenth of what University of Phoenix would have charged.

Good luck:
