This so-called credit card company is unbelievable! I have been keeping tabs on consumer comments about this card since it got it last year. Now I want to close the account because I'm definitely not trusting them... but check this - on Aug 5 2007 I called the number on the back of my card as usual to check how my balance is n whatnot. Everything was fine. Now today, I called again to talk about these so-called "cash advance" charges I've been getting every month (and I never even requested a PIN number to make a cash advance!) and now the number (484 840 2705) is disconnected. I went online to find as many numbers as possible. Also suddenly disconnected are these numbers: Cust service # 561 995 8820, Cust service # 561 982 9111, and Tech support # 561 982 8970. Only the toll free payment number is working, but now they suddenly have "office hours" and no one is answering the phones.

In the past I knew it was difficult to get to talk to a real person, so my little trick was to call the payment number (877 882 0756) as if I was going to make a payment over the phone, and just keep making errors when punching in my bank acct number. After two tries you WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO A REAL PERSON BECAUSE THEY WANT TO GET PAID. Now I guess I just have to wait until they are in "business hours" now... what a friggen drag.

I feel that the only way to get this account closed is to report it lost/stolen, then pay everything off and go on with me life. I cannot get to a person to will cooperate with me. I have already stopped using my card two months ago with the intent to finalize everything with this company. But I cannot get to a person who is willing to discuss account closure. I have been thwarted at every attempt, from passing me around operators to given fake/disconnected numbers to blatantly hung up on. Sending anything to them in the mail (even payments, which I do not do anymore) is a joke!

Even SCHEDULING online payments ahead of time is dangerous. Multiple times a payment was scheduled to go through before payment due date...and payment was not posted until the VERY NEXT DAY AFTER due date and then they charged me the $32.00 late fee. I have also been charged, for as long as I can remember, Cash Advance finance charge fees of $1.27. I have NEVER from ANY CARD, made a cash advance or cash withdrawal at an ATM. Like I said, I don't even have a PIN number for this card to make these charges.

I knew from the start that this was risky business, so I read, very carefully, EVERY little b.s. charge they would try to apply to me for whatever reason and fully expected to be charged all kinds of nastiness just for having an account with them. So in that regard, I am not really all that surprised that this is happening. I really felt that I had no choice but to go with this company because I had NO CREDIT and I was much less sure of putting out money for a secured card. I have improved my credit score a bit in the past year, and was eventually offered a Capitol One card which I am very pleased with right now.

I have never had a real serious problem with them thus far, but I know that cannot last for long, and have long since stopped using the card and am only paying down to close the account... if they will let me. This company is VERY SHADY and I feel everyone must be FOREWARNED before getting involved with them. Card companies like this one target low-income and/or bad-credit/no-credit people and easily pass out credit cards because they know that these poor bastards are THE MOST LIKELY to either be late with payments, go over the limit, and have the most financial problems, so that Applied Card can apply numerous and inflated fees for just about anything and get away with it because people in financial hardships are desperate to either fix/build their credit score or they just cannot get credit cards anywhere else but shady credit card companies like this one.

I am only 24 yrs old and I think that it is very sad indeed that I and others like me have been treated in this manner by making us sink serious amounts of hard earned money into ridiculously barely-legal credit card companies just to earn a few points on our credit reports. I feel punished by the system just for being born poor. I think that things in America are going to have to get a lot worse in the coming years before people wake up to the madness, get organized and start fighting back to make positive changes that really work. But I feel that this will never happen, and America will eventually implode upon itself, going the way of Rome as all other "great nations" have went. I just hope that I or any children I may have in the future will never live to see it.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones, got to milk this card for all its worth, got my credit score up, and now that I have a dependable, REAL Visa card I'm kicking these clowns to the curb. I hope that other people can do this too. Good luck!

Regarding the Cash Advance interest

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 27, 2008

If you paid the initial fee for a $300 or so credit limit (I guess they gave you a $500 limit), or if you paid the $100 fee to raise your credit limit at any time, those fees are treated as cash advances and are listed as cash advance interest. It's never happened to me, but over limit fees or late fees may fall under the cash advance interest rate too. So, even though you never took an actual Cash Advance, many of their fees are charged as a cash advance.

Typical credit card issuer stuff

AUTHOR: Fat Old Sweaty Elvis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 27, 2008

Credit card issuers are all shady--some more than others. I don't know what that business is about charging fees as cash advances--sounds illegal to me.

Concerning all the difficulty reaching these guys: All 3 of you need to quit trying. You're just wasting your time trying to deal with a credit card company by phone. They don't WANT you to close your account! And if you have an overdue balance, they'll promise anything you want to get you to make a payment.

If you want a credit card company to take you seriously you need to deal with them in writing, certified mail, and you keep a copy. That doesn't mean you write it in your chicken scratch on a piece of coffee-stained looseleaf paper. It should be typed and spell-checked and if it's longer than two or three sentences make it shorter. They don't need to hear your life story. If you don't know how to write a letter, take a class at your local community college.

As you may have figured out by now, getting credit just for the purpose of "building credit" is BAD idea. Anybody who suggests otherwise is probably trying to push you into a predatory loan of some type.

You dont understand what the cash advance is due to

AUTHOR: Miami - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 27, 2008

I worked there about 2 years ago so maybe things changed. Back then the way it worked was a cash advance was considered anything that the bank itself charges you. For example when you opened the account they would charge a bunch of fees for opening it. That was what the bank considered cash advance. It is not only that you take money out from the machine. I did work there and I found a lot of customers did not know how a credit card works so its ashame that they aren't allowing people to call in because from my experience a lot of their cardholders need some guidance on how credit cards work.

What a rip off

AUTHOR: Gretchen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Oh my God, this is the worst credit card company in the world. They zero in on poor people and those that are trying to correct their credit and charge outrageous fees that just dont end. Last month I paid my bill on time over the internet and was charged $6.95 for that. My payment brought the balance below the limit and I charged $4 the entire month, which still resulted in my balance being over the limit. I go online today and find that I have been charged $64- 32 for late fee and $32 for overlimit fee. After messing around on their phone system for about 20 minutes, I was finally given to a supervisor who informed me that I was charged the late fee because I paid $162.00 instead of $162.05! Then she gave some confusing bogus explanation for the overlimit fee claiming that I did not pay my full minimum payment a few months ago. I am ready to scream. I was told to write a letter requesting that these bogus fees be waived and will be sending that today. I have never been scammed like this in my life. Its bad enough that they charge you a maintenance fee and a fee to pay online. They just keep adding on more fees until your balance is a couple hundred dollars more than your credit limit and then start having Asian operators call your phone repeatedly "reminding" you of your payment due. I have also received numerous letters offering me an Upgrade to my account. Guess what the Upgrade is? It is some "identity theft protection" scam that results in more fees on your account. Why would anyone pay to have "identity theft protection" on an account that only has a $500 limit? How stupid do they think people are? This company has to be put out of business. Our country is in bad enough shape with the poor economy. We dont need scam artists preying on poor people.
