AYSL is the worst run youth sports league in Arizona! Parents- stay away! Our youth football team was looking for a spring league to play in and upon speaking with Scott Arsenault, the league president, we were told a lot of things that weren't true- false promises were made that were never delivered. This league switches schedules at the last second (even on game day!), has terrible refs, and the worst of all- they change the game rules from week to week. There is a lot of unsportsman-like conduct at the games by players and parents and coaches that is never addressed by the league, despite lots of parental complaints.

At our most recent game, they allowed a player on the other team who weighed in 5 lbs. over weight to play  anyways! When our coach called the league president to ask about this, the president told him that the weight limits were changed just recently to accomodate this player! We couldn't believe it! We signed our children up to play in a certain division and had to turn away players due to their being over weight before the season started. And now to find out that this league plays favorites and doesn't care about the children's safety is outrageous. No other youth sports league that we have ever been a part of has ever done anything like this. AYSL's rules are written in pencil.

The staff of AYSL never responds to any complaints or inquiries from parents, coaches or anyone, for that matter. They are just awful. Calling their phone number always sends you to voicemail- and nobody returns calls- so don't even bother!  Take your kids somewhere else if safety and ethics are important to you!

I ran into the same issues with this organization. I contacted the main phone# and was advised that nobody has any info except for the director. I left messages and sent emails but never get a response back. I want to make sure I get my questions answered before registering my child since they do have a "No Refund Policy" noted on their website. This organization does not provide good customer service at all!!! It's frustrating to deal with organizations like this.

This individual contacted the league with the same concerns expressed in this report. The individual received an immediate response from the league after which the individual realized she was incorrect in her statements. The weight limit for the player in question was 125 pounds PLUS 5 pounds for equipment allowance, which consists of the pants with pads and cleats. The player in question weighed in with the equipment PLUS shoulder pads and helmets and weighed in at 129 pounds; the maximum weight limit is 130 pounds. This information is not only reflected on the league's registration form but also in the league's rulebook, both of which was provided to the individual who expressed her concerns.

The individual alleged the owner changed the rules two weeks prior for this child specifically. This information was found to be incorrect. The statement was, "the rules had not been changed in two years." The league's registration forms would support this.

Upon receipt of the league's response, the individual replied as such:

"I apologize- I was misinformed. It was your field representative that did the weigh-ins that told coaches and parents that the weights were increased 2 weeks ago. That is what caused the alarm and worry for our parents. I am relieved to know this was not the case.

Thank you!

Schedules have changed throughout the season due to last minute issues with the facilities (i.e. unscheduled irrigation, unscheduled re-seeding, City's bumping organizations to utilize the field, teams dissolving and/or forfieting, facilities double-booking). However, teams were contacted immediately upon any changes with the schedules. The league recognizes the inconveniences this may has caused throughout the season and is making changes within the league to improve their programs to include but are not limited to instituting registration deadlines, conducting mandatory coach meetings to create schedules, and appointing a Director of Operations who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the football program ensuring the program is ran as effectively and smoothely as possible.

The league is two years new and is improving with every season that passes!
