On February 11, 2010, my mother & I went to a real estate seminar in the city of San Bernardino, CA for an inofmercial that she had saw on TV for Armando Montelongo's "Flip and Grow Rich" (buying and selling houses WITHOUT using any of your own money).
Once they let us in at 9:00am, this man by the name of Matthew Matt, Matson introduceses himself and tells everyone that Armando is running late due to some deal to buy up all kinds of real estate there in San Bernardino, but that he would be coming in as soon as he was finished signing contract and what have you. So he goes on to tell all the attendees about how much money he has made in real estate, hes having his can of RedBull (this is probably where ALL THAT BULL came from) and after an hour he begins to get really animated and go on about all the deals he has done with Warren Buffet and Donald Trump.
Then he begins to ask everyone, who would like to learn how to flip real estate the way Amando Montelongo does it and become wealthy. And who would like a mentor when they go out to do there first 3 deal and who would like to go out with their mentor and do three real estate deals that would put $40,000 in their pocket in the next 30 days.. and basically a bunch of raise your hand if youd like to do this and that type of questions Then he pitched a 3-day real estate workshop for $3,500 or something around that amount.
Then he goes on to tell us everything that well get for that $3,500, besides the EXTENSIVE 3Day workshop.
Heres what this person said was included:
Mentoring: access to Armondo Montelongo's professional team of real estate experts, whom would take us by the hand and walk us through our first 3 deals.
Access to their funds: access to Matt Mattson & Armondo Montelongo's funds on loan to secure the purchase of a house to be sold, so that we don't use any of our money or credit. He said, we put up the buy money, youll have access to our funding
Government give people money to buy and sell real estate: they would teach us how to find and get funds from a government program that is giving away millions to anyone who wants to invest in real estate.
$40-$60k a month: we would earn $40k to $60 per month and every month after that, with what they taught at the 3-day workshop.
Free Land Trusts: included in the $3,500 ($1,497) we would get FREE Land Trusts for all the properties we were going to be purchasing.
Well, that all sounded really good but, we didnt have $3,500, and everyone just looked around at each other as if to say, d**n, I dont have $3,500....
So then this guy Matt goes on to say, Look, heres what were going to do, and he goes on to say that today only they were going to drop the price of this 3Day real estate workshop and that we would get everything mentioned in the $3,500 price for $1,497 AND 2 people could attend the workshop if we rushed to the back of the room and paid and registered, because they only had a few seats left available for the next 3-day workshop dates. So we go back there and pay for our workshop and study materials.
So then we leave for home, and the first thing I do is get online and look into this Matt Mattson and Armando Montelongo and came across many complaints, regarding BAIT & SWITCH/misprepresentation of product.
So I called Armando Montelongo's customer service number to ask for a refund because the agreement we signed for the 3 day workshop stated that we had 3 days to request a refund. So this woman named Tiffany Barnes, whom is associated with Matt Mattson and Armando Montelongo answers and I tell her that I would like them to refund my $1,497 because I found some negative report on Armando, regarding misrepresentation. So she goes on to tell me that I shouldnt believe everything I read on the internet and she asks me how do I know all of that is tru if I have not even attended the 3 day workshops for myself. She was basically trying to discourage me from demanding my refund. So she goes on to tell me that I should go and give it a try and attend the first day, and that if I wasnt happy, that I could call back and I would be given my money back. So it seemed fair enough, so we agreed to give it a try.
In the meanwhile, we knew where the first 3-day workshop which took take place on February 19, 20 & 21, 2010, in Costa Mesa, CA, so we went over there, to see if we could wait till it was over and ask the people that attended what were the workshops like and if they were exactly what Matt Mattson promised it would be. Well it turns out we met a lot of unhappy and angry people there who claimed that they werent really teaching them anything, just a couple of people there talking about deals they claim to have done, and that Armando Montelongo just dropped by for 5 minutes and then left.
So I went home and since there were still 2 weeks until I had to attend my 3 day workshop on February 26, 27 & 28, 2010, I immediately called Armando Montelongos customer service number and asked for my refund. This time the girl tells me that I cant get a refund because it was way passed my 3 day window of asking for a refund.
What happened next is, I attend the 3-day workshops in Riverside, California. As I had heard from the unhappy people whom had attended the first 3-day workshop in Costa Mesa, NOTHING having to do with any real estate lesson, ever happened on day 1, 2 or 3 of this workshop.
Day 1, gave us a bunch of B.S. stories from some clown named Adam Sachs, who told us about how he bought a Ferrari for $50.00 from the owners wife, then drove to the Ferreri dealership and sold it back to them for $80,000 and how he used that to start his real estate empire. This guys goes on for 4 hours of story telling and NO real estate LESSONS!
At 1:00pm we went out to lunch, which was not included, like they promised at the seminar.
Then after lunch this other clown named Chris (sorry, forgot his last name), come on to tell us his stories. This guy basically bored me to death about how he acquired credit cards for his twin 2 year olds, raised the limit and started buying real estate with that. Then he goes on forever telling us how to be landlords. And Im thinkingI did not come here to learn to be a landlord.
Day 2, the same B.S. and same 2 speakers as on day 1. And its like these guys were told to tell a simple story, but stretch it out to a 4 hour version of it, where they stop and go into these side stories about the characters in the main story, then they try to get crowd participation to kill even more time.
Then came day 3... this is the day Armando Montelongo was supposed to show up, but he didnt. They opened up a laptop and had a very sh**ty quality live video feed of Armando Montelongo, basically pumping people up with B.S., and motivating them for the next bite they were going to put on us. So the third day was coming to a close and they put on a video of some stupid bus tour they wanted us to buy for $15,000 and $25,000, where they promised to teach us everything Matt Mattson promised we would learn and receive on these 3-day workshops.
We called Armando Montelongos customer service number to try and get our money back and we just got the run around.
I had been wanting to report this but I didnt really know where to go.
I still dont, being that I contacted a lawyer and he told me there was nothing that could be done, due to that 3 day refund clause.
But I really would like my $1,497.00 refunded back to me. If somebody knows where I can get help with this, that would be nice.
This Armondo Montelongo actually has a MySpace and Facebook:
It also looks like Armando's wife Veronica Montelongo is running a few offices in California.
Armondo's supposed mentor is Mathew "MATT" Mattson (Utah) and Adam Sachs who lives in Las Vegas, NV. These people are ALL CROOKS!!!
