We are going on month four of a "ten day job". They were Johnny on the spot in tearing up our old concrete pool deck, and them we got to stare at broken concrete and mud for weeks in our backyard with multiple excuses from them. (A sub finally told us they had simply taken on too many jobs, and to keep pestering them. After numerous calls and texts, the pool deck was installed two months later than promised, but they had broken our diving board.

They installed a new diving board base, (cockeyed and off center) with a cheap board that we refused) and made us buy the board, while in exchange, promising to reattach a pool light at no charge. We now have a screwed up board, and our pool light no longer works. As well, we realized that the tile wasn't lined up well, nor were the expansion joints, which is what likely caused them to install the board wrong (lined it up with tile and joints that were screwed up.) The months of waiting also caused dark stains on the interior of our pool (it looked like a swamp for weeks).

We've been told that it will take multiple treatments to remove those stains, and were advised to drain the pool and sand blast it (several hundred dollars to have that done, and will cost nearly $700 to drain and refill our very deep pool!) We had the interior of the pool redone just three years ago, and the idea of sand blasting it so soon really stinks! The icing on the cake is that a check we wrote to them for the same cockeyed diving board project, was cashed, then the back altered, and cashed again. We were contacted by a check cashing company attempting to get their money back and threatening legal action after the second check bounced.

We still don't know whether that has been fully resolved, but we did get the Sheriff's office involved and that investigation is ongoing. They are changing their name to ARTIZAN POOLS. Jimmy Cerna is the owner. Jonathan is still his lackey. They may have started with good intentions, but we just want out from under this horrible experience. 10 days turned into three months. 25% over our original budget. Bounced check issues/check fraud. And a pool with screwed up lines, broken light, and wonky diving board. RUN AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

Check Issue

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 24, 2014

I feel compelled to note that our issue right now seems to be with the check cashing company with which Jimmy's company does business. They believe it is a technical glitch on their part, but the altered image on the back of the check doesn't make sense in that context. Jimmy did contact them, and the Sheriff's office straightaway, so we don't think it is his company that is at fault, it is simply another hassle stemming from the experience. We have yet to receive any written document relieving us of culpability.

The pool deck itself seems to drain well, and we are hopeful that it will prove to be a good long term investment. The devil is really in the details with this group. Lots of missed deadlines, and lack of attention to detail. It has been a drawn out, frustrating experience, and the things that remain could have easily been handled the right way on the front end.
