Well, where do I start. Aspire Visa is a complete ripoff. I was caught at the peak after slowly repairing my credit. They said they start at a low interest rate at 9.9%, I figured that's start in the right direction, make the payments and restore mycredit history so I thought, apparently you have to use the card. when I used the card the statement came back with what I spent w/ an interest rate of 19-21.99% and the added fees there after ~~ when I saw these type of statements it made it hard to keep up. then when I had to dispute the charges w/the interest I felt it would be the last time they saw my money.what made it difficult was the timing when you called it was only during peak time hours, or if you're trying to contact them good luck, or sending the payment would acquire more fees NOW the future begins I couldn't up w/the payments then, I tried to resolve the account by just paying my debt w/o the interest they said NO! ~~ So now they have sold my account to different companies, didn't report that pyments were made onto the account, Im currently being sued to pay this debt. My question is if you cant get a hold of this Card company, you owe a debt after 5-8 years, how come they didn't report it on my credit report? the way I look at it this company KNOWS they are FOUL and they aren't in the business of the consumers to properly repair their credit. Its just a big SCAM that is after your money all I can say is read that fine print that so called terms of agreement

Don't let them bully you

AUTHOR: Rae - (U.S.A.)

It sounds like your account has been sold to a debt buyer. A LOT of these places are vultures who will use any and every tactic they can think of to scare you into paying the debt and a bunch of high fees they tack on. Do NOT let them bully you! Read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If they threaten to sue you when they have no intention of doing so, they are violating Federal Law. You can turn around and sue them!

The way I understand it, when you let a card get out of hand, the first step is for the card company to send it to their own collections department. If they can't collect, then they will send it to an outside collection agency. If that agency is unsuccessful, the original creditor might pull your account back and give it to a differenct agency. It could go back and forth like that for a long while.

Finally, they will just charge off the debt and sell it for pennies on the dollar. These buyers are usually the ones who will try anything to get you to pay, because they get to keep everything they get! (But some collection agencies can be just as bad, from my experience.)

Good luck. I hope you get everything worked out!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

They are a well known junk debt buyer.

I too had prior dealings with this company. They are a well known junk debt buyer. The statute of Limitations for credit cards is 5 years in Illinois. If it has been over 5 years since you made a payment, no worries. They can file a suit but you can claim expired SOL as defense. Do not call them or talk to them on the phone. Send them a certified letter, return receipt requested and inform them this debt is outside the SOL for collections and they are no longer to contact you by any method other than US mail.
