About a year ago, I received a call from Associated Supply Company in Las Vegas. The sales person wanted to sell me replacement inks for my Epson printers. I told her that I only use Epson Inks, since all efforts to find suitable less expensive replacements were just a waste of time. She then told me that their inks (Associated's) were made by Epson. I informed her that I thought that was total BS. Itold her that I had dealt with Epson long enough to know that they would never sell their products under another name for a lower price. I then ended the call. Aday or two later I receive another call from Associated. This time the caller claimed to be the owner of the company. Again, I was given this claim of how great their inks were. I informed the man about the "Epson" claim made by the sales person two days earlier. He apologized, and said that I was right, Epson did not make their inks. He then continued to try to get me to try their replacement inks. I refused and ended the call. This process continued for weeks. Finally, I agreed to allow him to send me two replacement set of cartridges, but I made it very clear to him that I would in no way be obligated to his company for anything. If I liked the ink I would reorder, if not then the matter would be closed.

About a week later, the ink arrived. I tried the product, and just like I had predicted, it was nothing more than colored water. It ruined whatever media
I used it on. About a week later, I received a bill. Shortly thereafter, I started receiving phone calss from their collections department. I made my complaints known and reminded the caller of "my conditions" before accepting delivery of the product. He accepted my complaint and the called ended. About a week later, I received another call from the "same person" as though the conversation we had a week earlier had never taken place. This process went on for several weeks.

Finally, I agreed to send the inks back using a return lable they sent me by email. There was a link to FedEx to schedule the pickup date. I went through the process of scheduling the pickup, but never got conformation. I tried several times and got the same result.

I have wasted enough of my time on this scam. Yet, Iam still getting threatening mail and phone calls to this day a year later. I have already filed
a complaint with thr BBB in Las Vegas. I intend to verify that my complaint is in place.

In my 25 years of business, I have never encountered a bigger "SCAM" than this one. Warn your friends and associates to just hang-up on these people if they should contact them.

BBB and ASC

AUTHOR: Michael - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, July 26, 2018

First, it is not true that the BBB gives you an F if you refuse to pay them. However, that is a common attack that businesses with an F use when trying to react. See the issues around the F rating Leif's Auto Collision Centers received in Oregon and the lawsuit that busienss filed against the BBB (which Leif lost in spectacular fashion).

That said, I too have received the calls from this company. I have no idea yet as to the quality of their product, since as I told the sales person, I had just purchased toner a week before so I was not in the market for it. So, their sales pitch was they would send me one, and if I tried it, pay the invoice, but they knew it could be months before I even used their toner. If I didn't like the quality, just don't pay the invoice. After I agree, I get transfered to the person who inputs the sales, and the terms are different. As in, now if I don't like ti, I have to call in to tell them. I'm sure it is a no hassle process that is completely customer friendly with no pressure :). Plus, the invoice is due in 60 days, not after you use it, but 60 days.

So, I think like most companies like this that have to do cold calling to get business (Amazon does not cold call me to sell anything), the sales reps appear to say whatever they need to in order to close the sale, regardless of if it matches with what the invoice will say.

A Shill Convention

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2013

Unbelievable. The tactics remind me of years back when these operations were pushing anti-static spray by the case. Folks, just do a Google search for 'Associated Supply Company scam' and take it from there. The similarities in tactics are beyond just coincidence.

IMO, high pressure sales tactics are indicative of low quality and/or low value.

Thank you Michael

AUTHOR: Ken - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2013

1st let me say how much I appreciate your comments regarding the Printer Cartridges you allowed us to send to you. My name is Ken and I am the Director of Administration for Associated Supply Co. Inc where I have been employed since 1993. Associated Supply Co. Inc has been in business for over 25 years selling HIGH QUALITY Toner and Inkjet Cartridges. We employ over 120 people in 3 different States..Nevada, Arizona and California. We know that our customer service department is 2nd to NONE...and we have 1000's of satisfied customers to prove it.

You did indeed receive a few sales calls because we really want people to try our product. I would like to believe that ANY company would love to have a sales force that does not always take NO for an answer the 1st time. After the misunderstanding regarding the brand name you received a call from the "Owner" of our company which I find most refreshing in todays society. It believe it shows how far we are willing to go to make sure our customers are satisfied.

When you agreed to allow us to send our product to you it was with the understanding that if you were happy with it you would pay for it in 60 days. If you were not happy you were to call for a PRE-PAID label to return it to us... which is exactly what occured. I am not sure what type of confirmation you were looking for in the email you received from FedEx but a simple call to FedEX toll free number assures a pickup right at your door.

I would also like to remind you that after speaking with your sales rep you received a 2nd call that same day from our verification department. The only reason that department exists is to make sure the customer knows exactly how many items they will receive, how long the trial period is, how much the invoice will be if you are happy and when the invoice will be due. There has never been an order that has left our building without that "verification call"!

With all that said I invite you to contact me personally at the number on our invoice and I will resolve this issue for you immediately because the bottom line is this...Associated Supply Company sells HIGH QUALITY Toner Cartridges and Inkjets at unbelievabe LOW PRICES and you cannot beat our Customer Service.....but you call me and be the judge.

Ken

Dont believe it

I have used Associates for ink cartridge's at 2 different shops over the last 3 years. The sales rep has always been friendly and the cost savings are enormous. I usually receive the ink no later than 2 days and get billed 30 days later. Only once did I receive a cartridge that lasted less than expected and Associates replaced it at no charge. As far as the BBB goes, the above customer needs to become a little more informed about the BBB. If you are a business and are not a member, you will receive an 'F' rating (yes, just because your not a member. I've been down that road). The BBB is just another business making money. I personally believe Associated Supply Company is a fine, upstanding business and will continue our relationship as long as possible.

Reply to BIGPCBA rebuttal on Associated Supply

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

I just read this rebuttal of my complaint against Associated Supply.  Quiet frankly, I'm surprised to see these people are still in business!

Is my report the exception or is this rebuttal?  When I filed my report with the BBB, I was told this company had an "F" rating.  You be the judge!  Which is the exception?

To this I sign my name, Michael Frug, not some acronym or alias.

Associated Supply

AUTHOR: BIGBCPA - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I just wanted to respond to the person who wrote about Associated Supply being a SCAM.  I have used Associated Supply to purchase toner for three of my office printers for over two years now and have found the people that work there as well as their toner products to be of the best quality.

In the two years that I have dealt with Associated Supply company I have never had any problems and the toners have worked as well as the toners that I have purchased at Staples Office Supply store and the costs are approximately one half of what I pay at Staples. It seems this person had a bad experience and was thinking it was a scam before they ever tried the toner.

Some peole never want to be wrong and maybe this is one of them.  I jsut want to say I will continue using Associated Supply for my toner products because they are of excellent quality and the people in the sales department as well as customer service do everything they can to make the buying experience a pleasant one.
