STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IN MY OPINION.  They only moved half our home for double the price quoted and then billed our credit card for almost $180 more than the bill they left us with!!!!!!

We hired Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC to move us from our current home to our new house purchased a few weeks ago.  When I called to speak with the sales rep., I was told that it would take approx. 5 hours to move my home as we were downsizing and it would be a "Flat Rate Move" hence their name.  I inquired as to whether they were licensed, bonded and insured and was told twice that they were.

However, when the crew showed up at my house, I was told of all of these extra charges that we would have to incur and also I had to purchase insurance for my belongings.  PLUS they want to charge me to "excessive" wrapping of my wood furniture and also to wrap the glass items.  This was all stated that they would do as part of the service we were quoted.  I mean you have to wrap furniture to move it.  Then he pulls out a sheet for insurance...WHAT!!!  We asked the sales rep. at least 2 times, "Are you  licensed, bonded and insured?" and they said "Yes!" every time.  But on arrival it was a bait and switch telling me I have to pay and then the levels of insurance are crap, 1st tier only covers up to $300 (no charge - gee thanks!), and then the next level I have to pay $56.50 PER ROOM to only cover up to $3000 total. and then there is an option to pay $18, but I have to pay a deductible of $300.

They only had to move my big furniture pieces, NO BOXES.  Also, since we were downsizing they were only moving some of the furniture.  We were moving all the boxes and smaller items ourselves on different days in between things.  The service was to include dismantling, wrapping, moving and reassembling of my pieces.

I strongly feel they purposefully left crucial pieces of furniture in the old home to force a second haul.  As later that night, after we had to assemble everything ourselves, we realized they left pieces to stuff we couldn't do without.  We had to go over with our car to get bed rails so we could sleep that night.  Plus now because we wouldn't do a second haul we have to hire ANOTHER moving company.  We did not do a second haul because the first haul total was twice as much as quoted!!!  So we weren't going to let them rip us off even more.

In addition, they went to lunch at a Wendy's location extremely out of the way. They said they where going to Wendy's for lunch.  Instead of going to the Wendys on the way to our new house (we pass it every time in between the old house and the new one) they went almost 30 miles around trip out of their way to another Wendy's in the next TOWN!!!!  They said they were only leaving and taking 30 minutes for lunch.  NOT TRUE!! They left at 3:11pm and got to my new house at 4:45pm.

As far as we are concerned this is fraud and there is nothing Flat Rate about this service.  Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC

charged our credit card $1547 before I even had a final total and when we were disputing the charges whe the driver we were told that the supervisor was unavaiable and not able to speak to us directly and they they already charged our card.  And on top of it all they charged my wife's credit card almost $180 MORE than the bill they left with us on their departure.  The bill they left us with was for $1365.  They charged the credit card $1547.  So that right there is fraud in my opinion.

They did wrap the furniture well after trying to charge us extra.  The movers were nice.  But they said they had no control over extra add ons that were not disclosed at sales quote.  They said they could not help it went slow.  But they were nice, just very slow.

In fact the foreman said if we help unwrap all the furniture ourselves it would save some money as they could work while we did.  Plus he said that way we weren't charged for the time to fold all the blankets back up as when they had unloaded and assembled the last item the clock would stop.  And his folding the blankets would be on their time.  We have all of our kids unwrapping furniture.  Then after running around for an hour I realize the foreman is doing nothing OTHER THAN FOLDING THE BLANKETS my kids are giving him ON THE CLOCK.  The exact opposite of what he said he would do if we helped.

Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC brought out 4 men and a 28ft truck.  They went over estimate double plus overcharged the credit card.  They left pieces we needed at the other house to make us do a second haul I feel.  AtlantaFlatRate Movers.com were very slow and in my opinion very dishonest!

In our opinion FRAUD is tell someone its going to be around $800 then charge $1500 for half of the job done

You cannot give a quote for close to $800 then on the first load double that price and think its a fair business practice.  You misrepresented what we would get for the quoted price.  That is wrong anyway you want to look at it.  I mean if it was off a bit I understand - BUT DOUBLE THE PRICE QUOTED and you ONLY MOVED HALF THE HOUSE!!!!!

And we did not tell the movers to not assemble the furniture.  You sent four men and one truck for a large truck or two truck job.  That is NOT OUR fault.  In my opinion I bet it is the way you squeeze the most of customers - making them have to have two loads.  And even having two loads would not be bad if it were any close to your quote.  But the first load had already almost doubled the quote.

AND WE WERE HELPING!!!! 4 men still couldn't get the job done anywhere close to your quote done.

Other questionable practices I noticed was leaving pieces of furniture in almost every room that would be needed at the new house to assemble - again pushing us, the customer, into having to have a second load.

The bill my wife signed when the movers left as we told them we weren't paying for a second load as the price already doubled was $1362.  But my wife's credit card got charged that day BEFORE she even signed the paper for $1542.

No company can charge a customer for more than the signed bill.  So how do you explain that?  And we have the signed bill with the total amount at end of move that your foreman had my sign stating the bill is $1362.  Her credit card got charged $1547.  How are you going to explain that to the bank?

I will say this.  Your men were very nice.  They wrapped everything well.

But this is not amount your men.  This is about your misleading lowball quotes and the fact your mischarged us.  If your men need more time to do things (which is very apparent they did) then you as a business owner needs to properly quote that job.

It's the classic BAIT AND SWITCH.  And that is not ethical.

We charge according to our signed contracts, not our customers' budgets.

We would like to first thank our Clients for their review.

After an investigation, we have found that this move was carried out according to the signed contract between Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC and our Clients. The contract clearly spells out the hourly charges in bold font and in common English. All customers must sign that they agree to the terms of the contract prior to the move, or the move does not occur.

Our Clients’ shipment was too large for one local moving van, which is sometimes the case, and they were offered an option to do a second trip to get the remaining pieces that would not fit. They declined. When a customer’s origin and destination addresses are in proximity (in this case, 8 miles apart), a second trip is proven to be more cost effective than charging our customers for the use of two trucks. Also, our Clients did not allow our movers to reassemble their items. This may have been their attempt to streamline costs.

A credit for one half hour was issued to compensate for an error made by our driver that resulted in additional travel time. The Clients signed the bill of lading at the end of the move agreeing to the credit amount.

Our Clients have posted several negative reviews on the Internet accusing Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC of fraud, however, all of our actions before, during, and after the move were within GDPS rules and regulations and agreed to by our Clients prior to the move. Our accreditation with the Better Business Bureau signifies that we are fully licensed and fully insured.

We would like to thank our Clients for using Atlanta Flat Rate Movers LLC, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.
