To  whom it may concern,

On September 27th I saw an advertisement in a local paper for a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. I have included a file which shows the advertisement.  When I went to the car dealership “Atlantic Volkswagen”  (555 Sunrise Highway West Islip, New York 11795 tel# 631-650-3400) I checked the car out and liked it and offered to buy it and was told by the Salesman Jim Doyle the only way that I could buy it was by financing the car. I insisted on paying cash or a certified bank check and mentioned that in the advertisement there was no mention about having to finance, but I was still denied. So I left the dealership and did not buy the car thinking at the time that it was strange the dealership would not sell me the car without a loan. Just after 12:00 p.m. that day I got a call from Jim Doyle explaining to me that there would be no additional loan fees, and that I could pay it off as soon as I wanted, so it should not make that big of a difference. I agreed to this and unfortunately now I know now why they wanted me to take a loan. It was during the loan process I was misled, deceived and lied to. This deception allowed the dealership to now have in their position forms with my initials and signatures on them.  The dealer’s paperwork shows that I agreed to purchase four programs that I never agreed to. Two of the four programs I do not even know what they are. I received no paperwork among the papers they gave me after the sale that explain these programs. I initialed one form because I was told by the finance person that he has to by law explain all the programs to me. I told the finance person that I did not want to buy any additional items for the car. The finance person said o.k. but you must at least initial the page so I can prove to my supervisor that I showed you these programs. Now this form is being used as proof against me that I wanted these programs? Since I did not get a copy of this with my paper work it is very possible the boxes were checked off after I initialed the form.  The bill of sale was not explained at all. I did not even know it was the bill of sale. A piece of paper was slid in front of me and I was asked to initial by the black X marks and sign the bottom left corner. All the numbers are on the far right side of the form which I was not even shown and since there was not a copy of this given to me at the time of sale I do not even know if the numbers were even there. If I had known the total cost of the car was $22,723 I would have never signed. Also another deceiving trick that was used was making me wait in the showroom for 2 ½ hours before starting the loan process. The programs that I have been charged for and never wanted are NITRO which I still have no idea what this program is, VSC Refund never explained this and do not know how this works, My Star which do not know how this works and I think the car needs to have GPS or Navigation which the car does not have, Car Wash which I thought was given to me at no charge.  The total cost that I do not agree with for the four plans is $3,830 plus $332 tax for a total of $4,162 each plan cost $957.50. I was also charge a loan fee of $332.00 even though I was told I was not going to be charged a loan fee.

When I went back to the dealership to complain about the situation, the manager, Romaine Perkins, said nothing he could do because all the papers are signed and the numbers add up. I left very unhappy because I knew I was totally scammed.  As I noted earlier I never received copies of the two pages of the paperwork that the dealer is using to claim the deal was proper, with the package of paperwork I was given after the sale.

Not as stupid as it first seems

AUTHOR: Ernie - ()

The forms that the dealer has with my signature and initials(two in total) that are being presented to prove his case were never given to as copies with the paperwork that I received with the purchase of the car. One of the forms which only has boxes checked could have been checked after I initialed it. I do not remeber the boxes being checked when I initialed it. Also it was explained to me that I had to initial the form because the financial officer said by law he has to present all the programs to me. He did not go over the programs since I did not want to hear them anyway so I initialed it. In no way did I feel my initials were being used to show that I agreed to purchase anything. The other form which I signed I never got a copy of either and I do not recall all the numbers that were in the far right column. It is easy to say that I messed up and should have not signed it but there are ways that people can get people to wrongfully sign paper work.

YOU Said It Over and Over

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

YOU chose to sign and or intial paperwork WITHOUT reading what you were obligating yourself to!  Why do they need to explain ANYTHING to you?  You have eyes, you can read, can't you?  Smart...real smart!
