However, when I think back each time I called this company for a repair, they have always required me to pay more money. The A/C needed to have the coils cleaned only 5 years after they installed it. Oh yes they said, it really needs to be done for $300.00 or so. I had a simple repair on a toilet that kept running, and the man tried to force me to buy a new toilet. Stating if was not made properly, and he signed off on a paper that the toilet was bad so I knew the next time something happened with this toilet, they would have an excuse not to fix it.
The toilet looks brand new and only needed that part that always fails in the top of the toilet. Today was the best one, I called them because I saw a slow leak in the hot water tank. The service man started pulling out a cap, and said this needs to be replaced, it is leaking inside. I have replacement coverage for a hot water tank so he called in for a replacement. When he hung up he said it will cost me $729.00 for a new hot water tank. I said I was not going to pay I have coverage. I asked to talk to the office, a man whose name I will not reveal needs a good lesson in customer service. He said the contract does not cover water heaters like mine.
My contract says WATER HEATER; Electric only, which mine is; and Electrical components, temperature and pressure relief valve, thermostate, heating element, reset overload control, tank ruptures with extended plumbing only except NOT COVERED, IN SHORT TERMS THOSE WITH SOLAR COMPONENTS, SEDIMENT AND MINERAL BUILD UP, HOLDING OR STORAGE TANKS, MINERAL DEPOSITS DIP TUBES, LOCKAGE IN LINES, DRAINING OF HOT WATER TANKS, TIME CLOCKS, DRAIN PANS, GATE VALVES , RUPTURES, MODIFICATIONS, NOISE, REMOVAL OF CABINETS; LABOR TO INSTALL TANK, ATTIC INSTALLATION OR CUSTOMER ABUSE.
The man on the phone says this is why they will not replace, but when I screamed and threatened to bring a lawsuit, he said you have a rupture. I said this water heater looks brand new, there is no rupture, no rust etc., the service man said it was leaking from inside. After a much heated conversation he said it will cost you $150 for the permit (which costs $9.00) and $150.00 for the disposal fee. While the cost of the permit is in the contract the $150.00 for cost for disposal is not. There was no longer a charge for the hot water tank, but he had to make up his money somewhere.
The moral of the story is this is a bad company with deceptive contracts. If you need minor plumbing and electrical or minor repairs to the AC; or appliances, you can use this company, but do not pay for replacement items on your contract because it simply does not exist and the government should require this company to stop selling these contracts that indicate they will replace when an item needs to be replaced. I never expected them to replace my refrigerators or large appliances, I simply purchased new ones. But the garbage disposal and hot water tank I was convinced would be replaced with no problem. I am sure the Hot Water Tank that is installed will be a very low cost model, but for now I need one, and I will have to suffer the consequences.
