AT&T has found yet another way to steal money from people. We bought a pay as you go phone from radio shack (an authorized dealer) instead of monthly minutes you're supposed to add money when your account gets low. They don't inform you when you buy the phone and add your original deposit that after 90 days if you dont add money they completly take all of your deposit...in my case $31.00 in other cases this could be $500 or more

You wont find this information on the packaging or anywhere inside the manuals..Even worse, they will argue and lie on the phone about "company policy" not allowing them to return these credits they stole.

I understand cell companys not returning unused minutes but these Go phones are not under contract and the terms and conditions should be clearly stated BEFORE you have made the purchase. AT&T must be getting millions in extra income by this new scam

P.S...Michelle Arnold is the customer service rep. there that lied to me.

At&t Pay As You Go Phones

AUTHOR: Jenniferdk123 - (U.S.A.)

My husband and I have had the pay as you go phones and when you buy them you have to read everything. When you go to put on your minutes it does tell you when they expire plus you get text messages from at&t telling you to refill. When you get down to about $4.00 it tells you that you need to refill either you did't pay attention or did not use your phone enough as far as deposits you may have been ripped off by radio shack because there is no deposite on pay as you go phones I have owend one since it was cingular. I oughtta know about these phones I am the one who got my husband to buy his and he really liked his we just recenty stopped using our due to the fact that we got a plan phone though at&t. Maybe next you will check into things more carefully but I know it don't happen the way you said. Jennifer Kaufman Seymour Indiana p.s call at&t and ask them they will tell you what I'm saying is true we'd been with them for over two years.

That was never a secret

AUTHOR: [rm] - (U.S.A.)

Pay as you Go balance does expire after 1, 3 or 12 month and it was never a secret, don't YOU lie to people saying that there is nothing mentioning that, it's in the brochure, on the web site and most importantly your terms of service which is YOUR responsibility to read, and if Radio Shack employees didn't offer you one, it was YOUR job to get of hold of copy and understand what service you're getting. People's biggest problem is that they DON'T care about anything until something they don't like happens and then blame everybody else but themselves. It was not a scum, and this is a false rip off report!

Deposit...?

AUTHOR: Edgeman - (U.S.A.)

I do not have a "Pay As You Go" phone, so I am wondering if you could clarify something for me. What exactly is this deposit for? I wasn't aware that prepaid phones needed deposits, I thought that was the point of prepaid plans.

Or do you mean the money that is used towards minutes? Those have an expiration date:

http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/basics/choosing-plan/pay-as-you-go.jsp

And this...

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/legal/plan-terms-prepaid.jsp#pyg

Pay As You Go cards and other account refills are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Amounts deposited into your account expire as follows: cards less than $25, 30 days; cards $25 to $75, 90 days; $100 cards, 365 days. Unused account balance is forfeited upon expiration.

I'll have to take your word for it that this information isn't in the manual, but it should be in the paperwork or on the card itself.
