Just the facts - You be the judge - I had a high-end warranty with AUL. A year later my transmission went out. AUL refused to overhaul the original transmission. Instead they supplied a replacement. Over the next 18 months the transmission had to be replcaed two more times, once by AUL and once by me. Turned out the problem was AUL supplied a transmission for a different year car. I found this out by taking it to the dealer to find out why every two days or two weeks for 18 month I had major problems. The dealer said that the model of transmission AUL installed should never have been put in my car, and had caused systemic additional damage to my car now too. When the dealer spoke with AUL and told AUL they needed to fix this problem AUL caused, AUL said they had spent too much money already and refused... and refused to talk to me... and refused to answer my calls... and refuseed to respond to my e-mails and letters. Finally I had no choice but to reach in my pocket for my credit card and replace the transmission, and all the systemic damge repairs too.

I successully sued AUL but did it in small claims becasue I could not afford the cost of an attorney for a civil suit. I was out $12,500.00 in directly realted costs [not to mention the HELL I went through], but could only sue in small claims for $5,000.00. AUL did appear in court. The judge awared me a judgement of $5,000.00 plus court costs.

THIS WAS A LONG DRAWN OUT HELLISH EXPERIENCE and I'm out many thousands of dollars, beyond my judgement, and the amount of gray hair I have gained and has fallen out as a result of this experience is crazy making. I don't use the kind of language I would like to use, but you can imagine.

Choose your repair shop wisely

AUTHOR: Keith - (United States of America)

I have to agree with other shop owner's rebuttal about you choosing the wrong shop in the first place.I own an independent shop myself that repairs Mercedes-Benz and have had nothing but positive

results from AUL service. It was the original shop that should of picked up on the wrong transmission purchased by AUL. If a parts store sends us the wrong injectors

it is our resposibility to make sure it is the right part.

As  for the amount of money you spent to replace it yourself, you should have waited on your $7500. to $8000. change.

You probably chose the shop because it was the cheepest in town. Next time do some research ond who does the work before you end up dragging the wrong parties

to court.

The judge probably had a heavy docket and just got tired of the whinning and picked the deepest pocket to pay you.

You have no idea what the detailed facts are.

AUTHOR: Can you trust anyone? - (U.S.A.)

You are unqualified to make your assertions becasue you DO NOT know that detailed facts of the case. So stop asserting from ignorance. AUL are CROOKS PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND THEY KNOW IT!!!!! You must be getting paid by AUL or work for them.

You have no idea

AUTHOR: Rick - (United States of America)

You have no idea where I assert from. I know Automotive warranty policies and practices very well and in particular, AUL's. I have worked at a Ford Dealership and have worked AUL for over 6 yrs. They have been the best aftermarket warranty company I have ever dealt with. It was your chosen shop that should have known what they were doing prior to repairing a vehicle. If they did not know the particulars to your vehicle then they should not have touched it and you should have taken it to the manufacturers dealership.

Your comments have grossly wrong assumtions.

AUTHOR: Can you trust anyone? - (U.S.A.)

You assert from a place where you have no knowledge fo the facts, and WRONG ASSUMTIONS! You are defending a bad business { AUL } and bad people! AUL refused to fix the problem they created and it cost me a great deal of time, trouble, and MONEY... MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARDS IN LOSSSES EVEN AFTER the small claim max settlement.

Judge was an Idiot

AUTHOR: Rick - (United States of America)

This was probably the same Judge who gave the lady who spilled hot coffee on herself a million dollars. Being a automotive Technician for 20 yrs and a Ford Service Manager for 5, in my opinion it was the responsibility of the shop and Technician to verify if they recieved and installed the correct component. It was your choice on who you took your car to for a reair, and the fact that you decided to take your vehicle to a shop that did not know what they were doing should place some of the blame on yourself. AUL allows you to take your vehicle to any licensed repair facility, and this includes a dealership that repairs and specializes only in your type of vehicle. If you had done this in the first place instead of the shop you took it too, you would never have had a problem.

The Fault Inside

AUTHOR: Freeflight - (U.S.A.)

As a former business person/shop owner who has delt with insurance companies I have never seen an insurance company actaully specify a part number. They have only selected route such as new, rebuilt, or refurbished. It's the shops parts man or the mechanic who selects the specific part number. The fault falls most likely on the shop. The judge made the wrong decision.

The judge found AUL responsible for the nightmare.

AUTHOR: Can You Trust Anyone? - (U.S.A.)

FYI - I did include the repair shops and AUL and AUL's vendors in the lawsuit. They were all represented in the court room on the day of the trail. The judge found AUL responsible for the nightmare. So before you start giving me bad advice you've based on wrong assumptions, maybe you should find out the facts FIRST!

Mechanic not AUL at fault

AUTHOR: Dick - (U.S.A.)

AUL did not install your transmission, an independent repair shop did. They are the individuals on site to determine if the transmission is the correct one or not. AUL is simply an insurance company that is paying to install the transmission that the repair shop found and installed. You should have sued the repair shop.
