I bought my first ever car warranty, service contract with AUL for a 2007 Dodge Durango in Grand Jct Co from Grand Valley auto. sixteen months from the purchase date while driving on I-70 the engine seized. I was told this was due to a water pump failure which is very common. The over heating trashed the engine.
My Dodge dealership contacted AUL only to be told they would only pay for the water pump but not the engine, in a clause they don't pay for any over heating issues. The failed water pump caused the over heating which they will replace but nothing else.
I am going to litigate as the company has a track record of ripping so many off that they need to not only pay up but be shut down

What does the warranty contract actually say?

Many auto warranties are a ripoff, in my opinion. But it is impossible to know for sure about your specific warranty without reading the entire warranty contract.
Unfortunately the way the auto dealership sells the warranty is by having you NOT read the contract - but to just trust the finance person to restate it accurately. Which is not a very promising way to understand a contract.
I don't work for a dealership nor an auto warranty company. I understand contracts though and if it is an excluded item, then it won't be a covered item. The problem we face as consumers is the dealership does what they can to not disclose the auto warranty terms, including exclusions, to us.
Before you pay an attorney to litigate - read your warranty contract. Then make the decision to litigate or not. Remember these warranty companies spend many thousands of dollars to have attorney's design the contract to protect the warranty company - not us.
