After research and consideration, I purchased Checksoft Premier at my local office supply store. In tiny print on the bottom of the box, it stated that the product would work "with current and earlier versions of Quickbooks" (and other financial software). Nowhere on the box did it mention a specific dated version of the product.

When I installed the software and attempted to use it with my 2011 Quickbooks, I received an error telling me Checksoft was incompatible with the version of Quickbooks I was running and that I would need to update, which I tried to do, but an update was not available. Because it was a Friday night, I had to wait until Monday for support to open.

I was informed that I had a 2010 version of Checksoft, which would not work with any newer version of Quickbooks. They would send me a 2011 Checksoft in 7-10 days. UNACCEPTABLE. Why wouldn't a downloadable upgrade be available in this situation?

Furthermore, I was told that when I upgrade my Quickbooks next year (as a pro, I upgrade annually), the Checksoft 2011 will not work with QB 2012 and I will be required to purchase Checksoft 2012. Again, this is not made clear on the packaging.

I then told them I wanted to enforce the 90-day satisfaction guarantee and just get a refund.

They informed me that I would have to mail the product back to them AT MY COST and they would process a refund in 2-3 WEEKS. Again, UNACCEPTABLE.

In all, I spent over 3 hours on the phone with their Customer Service (or lack thereof) department. And I, the consumer, lose. They say I will get my refund, which is now questionable after reading earlier posts.

Someone needs to put a stop to this company. I wish I had paid more attention to my gut feeling and less attention to the coupon I had from the office supply store (which will not allow me to return the product since it has been opened). I thought the other disgruntled posts I had read were just "complainers". Let me tell you, I have never left a post like this anywhere. But this company has to be stopped. Don't be a victim of their misleading packaging and false advertising.
