On 7/11/14,  I renewed my annual Avast Premium license via the Avast website & their download procedure..  The download appeared to go smoothly later however I realized that part of the Premium program was missing or not working the ‘Safe Zone’ program..

On 7/12/14, I sent them a message on Twitter about this issue & received an email back from them with a ticket # XXXXXXXXXXX which read:.

 “Dear customer,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

It seems that you and other users are experiencing some conflicts with avast! SafeZone in the latest build. We will escalate this issue to our Quality Assurance team so they can handle it with our developers. Unfortunately I'm not sure how long this process may take because analysis of this feature is difficult. We understand that avast! SafeZone is an important feature for our customers, so meanwhile we can recommend you to use avast! Sandbox as an alternative to SafeZone. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Since I had worked in the systems area before I retired this was an acceptable explanation to me so I waited for the update to the file to take place..

On 7/21/14, I received another email from the Avast support area which read:

 “Hello,

We apologize for the issues, that you are having.

This seems that your avast! is corrupted and you would need to re-install your avast software.”

Included in that email were the procedures “they use”  for doing the uninstall of the program & the new install of the program which I followed completely..  However, during this install my PC froze & I needed to contact (phone) their support area.. They put me in touch with a support rep that needed to access my PC remotely; which was a huge mistake on my part since he made the matter worse & I started to get a pop up message about “a change in my network”.. I did not change my network & the name of the network that comes up on that message is not mine so I won’t click on OK as the Avast support person advises me to I just cancel out of it..

There has been much back & forth with the support (?) people from Avast from 7/12/14 until now & no one has been able to fix, repair or resolve the issues I have with the new Premium download.. I have a folder filled with emails & screen grabs from Twitter & Facebook to support this..

The ‘network’ error message combined with the other issues had/has me concerned so on 7/22/14 after much back & forth with representatives from Avast on Twitter, Facebook & email & getting nowhere I filed a support request to get a refund of $ 39.99 ticket  ID: HUP-XXXXXXXX.. I was well within my 30 day purchase agreement according to their TOS so I felt that my request would be honored in a timely manner & without any further problems..

Now there appears to be an echo in the room since no one from the company extends me the courtesy of telling me where I stand with this refund so I can move on & obtain anti virus software from another company.. A search of the internet shows other people having these same issues with Avast so we all can’t be wrong & I can supply the other websites that list these complaints if I am asked to..

I have saved all the emails, Twitter & Facebook responses & screen grabs as backup documentation for my complaints on this should I need them to support this complaint..
