I just recieved an email telling me that AVG had just tried to extract payment EARLY for my antivirus program, by tapping into a credit card number I had used to purchase the original program.  I had bought their antivirus program last year...Today is 12/12/2014. I do not need to renew my subscription until the 22nd .

I did not give them permission to take anything out of my account EARLY. Good thing I had to change my card number earlier in the year, (due to a thief trying to charge merchandise to my card) because if I hadn't, AVG would have withdrawn money that wasn't yet available for the purchase. I might well have ended up with several bounced checks and penalty fees, which would have ruined my Christmas holiday.

NO company has ANY business taking money out of a customer's checking account, without getting permission first. My advice is not to EVER do business with this company online. IN fact, since they have shown themselves to be willing to screw up a bank balance in order to extract early payment.. I wouldn't do business with them at all.

So I will be taking my business elsewhere, as well as spreading the word.  If you don't want to suddenly find yourself with a messed up bank account, don't do business with AVG. I was asked on the Ripoff report file page, if I used my card for a transaction.  I had used the card for the previous year's transaction, but did not authorize AVG Labs to use it for this one.

you did authorize the renewai transaction. From AVG website in Terms & Conditions: "Renewal payments shall be automatically charged to your credit card and your account shall automatically renew unless you provide AVG Technologies with notice of your termination of the Services." (emphasis added).

So, unless you contacted them and canceled, you did authorize AVG to process the renewal fee through the card you gave them when you purchased the product.

And, no I don't work for AVG. I'm just a consumer of their free program. But almost all computer service (firewall, anti-virus, anti-malware, etc.) that you SUBSCRIBE to is going to auto-renew. You should use free software or software you purchase with no subscription.
