I am frequent customer of B&H Photo and I have been for years because I'm a professional Photographer and they are my main supplier.  On 3/23/2010 I searched the internet site of B&H's used department to see if there was anything that I could use.  I came across a Sennheiser EW 100 G2 with the plug on Microphone Transmitter.  I called the store and asked them to hold it and then picked it up.  I inspected the system, transmitter, receiver, lav mic, and cables, also a point and shoot camera, it was good enough for me, so I went to buy something from the new department.  While there I realized I didn't see the plug on transmitter so I went back to the counter and was advised that the picture I saw online was not the item I purchased.  I went back and forth with this guy on who was right and in the end they discounted the kit 25 bucks.  I paid for items and left to store only to realize I didn't purchase an SD memory card for the camera. So I went back inside to get it.  When I walked in a woman asked if I needed help, I asked if I could buy a memory card without going upstairs to the photo department, she said yes go this way and make a right turn.  I walked up to the counter and asked the salesmen Shumel if he could assist me with purchasing a memory card for my camera, he shook his head no and said no and directed me upstairs to photo.  I explained to him I only wanted a Memory card that was good enough to record photo's and video and he advised me that he could not help me.  I then asked for his manager and he told me no manager was there.  I insisted that he find one and still refused, just so happen a manager named J.J. appeared and Shumel directed me to him.  I advised him that I wanted to purchase the memory and I wanted to purchase the better of the two because I had a camera the salesmen Shumel refused to help me.  J.J. asked why he didn't want to help me and he replied he didn't know.  I ended up with J.J. locating my item for me but I walked away with a bad taste in my mouth.  I spent over 800 bucks in that store but I walked away with a bad experience.  Hit with the bait and switch and the rude salesmen was not a good feeling for me.  I am going to way out my options with other vendors.

B&H Is a Joke

Keep the focus...  EW 100 G2 and EW 112 are two different items why bill me for EW 112 and then sell me EW 100 G2.  If I purchase a DVD player would you put a VCR in my bag?  The picture of the EW 112 is included.  I got EW 100 G2 minus the Microphone transmitter.  Let the audience compare the pictures and decide... 


As for the replacement of the cable:  According to your used Dept everything is inspected before it's resold.  Yes you did replace the cable by why wasn't inspected so I didn't have to get a replacement.  Thanks to your unwillngness to admit your wrong I am now a loyal customer of your competitor Adorama.  I'll be back here in a month to see how many others you've done this too.

Much is now revealed. The Sennheiser item you bought came from our used dept. Used items often do not include every accessory the manufacturer originally shipped when the item was new. As soon as you mentioned the cable, we arranged to send one to you, free.

Your comments on memory cards and tires deserves reply. It's true any card will go into any camera, presuming the card type is correct. By the same token I can put any correct-size tire on any car. In both cases though, the correct size is not the only parameter one must consider. Speed ratings and other factors contribute to selecting the best and most appropriate product. B&H's mission is to give customers the best possibler advice so the customer can choose the appropriate product from the basis of information and facts.

It's a nice try for Henry to undermine the bait and switch on the Wireless however the fact remains:  I have in my possession the kit I received from B&H and on the product the model number is EW 100 G2 on my receipt it says I purchased EW-112P G2, these are two totally different products.


As for the SD card: An SD Card will fit into any SD Card Slot: My question to Shumel required a knowledge of the product he sold not the item I had purchased.  It's just like if I were going to buy car tires for my Jaguar I have to buy size 205/55R16  it would not matter what brand I'd purchase only that the tire fit. One would provide a better ride, having knowledge about your product you sell is key to being a salesmen.

We certainly regret this customer's dissatisfaction. Our store is divided into departments, much like any other diverse store, and sales associates for each are instructed to limit their transactions to product genres from their particular departments. This is similar to visiting Macy's where sales associates from the mens's suit department don't sell sports wear or ladies undergarments. Our sales associate was doing his job when he advised this customer he'd be better served by heading to the correct department for the memory card he sought. We sell hundreds upon hundreds of different cards and they're not interchangeable. Nowadays it requires a sophisticated knowledge of different cards and different cameras/camcorders to ensure the customer is getting the card type best suited for his or her individual situation.

B&H sold four different Sennheiser E100 G2 systems (they're now all discontinued and replaced by the new G3 series). When we advised the customer that in fact the image online was NOT the item he'd purchased, we were correct. We're sorry he was confused, but we were accurate and professional from first to last.
