Will keep it short.  Took our 10 year-old cat to Issaquah Banfield for a routine exam.  As one of the recommended procedures, at their option and at extra cost. cats ears were cleaned.  The tech apparently screwed up and punctured both of our cat's eardrums (this was verified when we rushed him to another local vetenarian).  Our cat could not walk, stand, eat or use the sand box.  We took him back for two more exam, over the next four days, and Banfield, essentially, came up with nothing -- to quote, "we don't know."  Banfield showed no sense of urgency or concern about our cat.  and, stayed away from the most obvious answer, despite us pointing it out.  Only thing they did was to refer us to a "specialist," 15 miles away, from whom they would receive referral fee.
The other local vetenarian diagnosed the torn eardrum and gave our cat medications for vertigo, nausea and pain.  Thus the immediate issue was addressed.  But, because of the 5 day delay by Banfield, our cat was now dehydrated and developed digestive problem.  We had to rush him back for more emergencies.  Thus far, we have incurred $650 in additinal cost and our cat is not out of the woods yet.  Banfield (Issaquah, WA) has denied medical resposibilities for the error and, certainly, refuses to re-imburse us for our costs for the other vet.
This kind of incompetance and refusal to admit medical and finacial responsibilities seems to be very common for all Banfield around US.

How to resolve the issue

AUTHOR: Elizabeth B - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 09, 2011

The exact same thing happened to my cat at a Banfield in Dallas. I took her in for an ear cleaning and she came back with a punctured eardrum and had to spend a night at the emergency vet. I spent over $1,000 on her care for this, which included forced feedings and weeks of check-ups.

My advice to you is to call Banfield headquarters directly. Their number is 866-894-7927. Talk to a client relations specialist and tell them exactly what happened. Have vet reports which document the damage to your pet faxed to them. Explain that you'll hire an attorney if they don't offer a refund for all emergency care. If you tell them you'll go to the BBB, they won't care.

I was able to collect over $1,000 from them, albeit it took several months. If you haven't already found a new vet that's reputable, consult family, friends and the BBB website.

Banfield is a sorry operation.

I wouldn't let them wipe my pets ashhole.

All they care about is upselling you.
