It started with the post card, and ended with a $1500 loss, a disappointed and emotionally distressed daughter, not to mention husband.We went to the first try-out, and she was"picked". She was told she was a natural with Muriel Hemingway looks. That should have been the first clue.
They proceeded to contact us 3 times over the next few days. The tuition could be paid in full or payments. We chose to pay in full. We had to send a Cashiers check so we did...overnight.
My husband ended up getting a call to be shipped over seas(military). So we decided that we needed to cancel her school. We were there within 24 hours of them reciveing the check. Within the 3 day limit. To ask 'Personally' for our money and withdrawl. We were told that they had to mail it. So we filed a withdrawl and made sure the clerk signed our copy that he had gotten it.
Within the next 2-3 days we were contacted numerous times to persuade us to stay. Then they began to hound my daughter. They made verbal remarks and convinced her to go to just one meeting to see if she liked it.
What parent wants to squash her kids dream? The lady told my husband if she attends then we forfit our money right? she said "No, that would be dishonest" and proceeded to explain to him that he would only be losing the $595 for the first d/p . The rest would be returned to us. She went to first meeting. A joke! There was no Runway, 25 girls crammed in a tiny room, cussing, talking about boys and sex, crazy music,and a erotic dance performed by the teacher. At one point they even locked the teacher out of the room! She did learn to walk and turn in the middle of the hotel room lobby. I have pictures! We left, she decided this was not for her. We never heard from Barbizon . We contacted them several times fax, phone and BetterBusBur. The BBB has really been no help. Who can afford lawyers to take on these ppl? My daughter was heartbroken...And she really is a beauty. Its crazy. If we had only paid in payments we would have MOST of our money.

The Buddegnhagens came to the school and met with me, the father of the student told me that he may get shipped to Iraq-I told him in that instance I would refund his money in full because no classes had been attended. Mr. Buddenhagen called me and told me that he would like to put his daughter on leave of absence after she had attended one class, in fact he was never shipped oversea and it was just a ploy to cancel a legal contract that was signed. Mr. Buddenhagen decided to go to BBB, who reviewed the contract and agreed that a legal contact was signed and we just enforced the agreement. Barbizon did not mislead the Buddenhagens.
